Abstract:
A cosmetic composition includes an antimicrobial system that includes an antimicrobial agent comprising 4-hydroxyacetophenone and one or more additional antimicrobial agents comprising piroctone olamine. The antimicrobial system can be used in a cosmetic composition wherein the composition is a makeup removal composition that is one of an O/W emulsion, a W/O emulsion, a micellar water, a makeup removing wipe, or a two-phase (or multi-phase) composition. The antimicrobial system may be free or essentially free of any one or more of parabens, alcohols, formaldehyde, and formaldehyde-derived compounds. In some particular embodiments, the composition is free or essentially free of parabens, formaldehyde, formaldehyde-derived compounds, pentylene glycol, phenoxyethanol, hexylglycerin, ethylhexylglycerin, octylglycerin, benzylglycerin, 3-heptoyl-2,2-propandiol, and 1,2-hexandiol.
Abstract:
A cosmetic composition including a water phase, the water phase comprising solubilized 4-hydroxyacetophenone with niacinamide, wherein the weight ratio of niacinamide to 4-hydroxyacetophenone in the water phase is greater than 3.0.
Abstract:
A system and method is provided for providing a cosmetic composition to a user. The system includes an apparatus configured to dispense at least one cosmetic composition into a output container; a user interface configured to receive information about the user; and circuitry configured to receive the information about the user and determine one or more cosmetic compositions to be dispensed into the output container based on the information about the user received at the user interface.
Abstract:
A sunscreen composition having an oil phase comprising (i) at least one silicone elastomer gel comprising an emulsifying crosslinked silicone elastomer having both silicone chain branches and alkyl chain branches swelled in a non-polar, volatile swelling agent having a Hansen solubility parameter, delta a, of less than or equal to 5 and (ii) greater than about 10% by weight of the sunscreen composition, of at least one organic sunscreen active. The sunscreen composition further includes an aqueous phase comprising water. The sunscreen composition is a homogenous, water-in-oil emulsion that is storage stable.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to an emulsion composition, comprising: (i) from about 0.01 to about 1% by weight of at least one aromatic alcohol; (ii) from about 0.01 to about 1% by weight of at least one aromatic carboxylic acid; and (iii) from about 0.01 to about 0.5% by weight of at least one chlorophenyl glyceryl ether; and wherein the composition does not require use of parabens, ethanol and/or glycols in order to preserve the composition.
Abstract:
A makeup removal composition includes at least one of each of a silicone-based emulsifier, a branched, liquid alkane, an emollient ester, ether, or carbonate, a hydrating agent, and water. In some embodiments, the composition may further include one or more additives including preservatives, actives, and fragrances.
Abstract:

The compositions comprise: (a) a first film former potassium silicate; (b) at least one second film former; (c) at least one polyvalent silicate thickener; (d) at least one anionic associative polymeric thickener; (e) at least one plasticizer; and (f) optionally at least one cosmetic powder.
Abstract:
A water-releasing sunscreen composition in the form of an emulsion and process for using the composition are provided. The composition includes an aqueous phase containing at least one water-soluble ingredient. The composition further includes an oil phase containing a first emulsifier and a liquid organic liposoluble UV filter. The liquid organic liposoluble UV filter is at a concentration from about 10% to about 25%. The composition includes a phase ratio of the aqueous phase to the oil phase of about 1.0 to about 12.0. The sunscreen composition is stable, has a sun protection factor (SPF) of greater than or equal to 15 and converts from an emulsion to a plurality of droplets upon application of shear.
Abstract:
