Abstract: The present disclosure provides a laundry treating apparatus. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a tub for receiving washing-water therein; a first drum rotatably disposed within the tub; a second drum disposed in the first drum so as to be attachable or detachable to or from the first drum, wherein washing of a laundry by the second drum is performed separately from washing of a laundry by the first drum; and a guide rib projected from an upper portion of a inner circumferential face of the second drum toward a center of the second drum, wherein the guide rib is constructed to guide wash-water rising up via a rotational force of the second drum to flow toward a center of the second drum and then to fall down.

The first shaft and the second shaft are configured to rotate about a common rotation axis passing through the driving gear shaft and the first shaft hole.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of controlling a laundry treating apparatus comprising a tub configured to hold wash water, a drum mounted in the tub, a pulsator mounted in the drum, a sub-drum coupled to the drum, the sub-drum being configured to hold wash water, and a drive unit configured to rotate the drum and the pulsator. The method comprises a water current forming step comprising performing a basket motion and a pulsate motion and a cooling step comprising lowering the temperature of the drive unit. The basket motion is configured to form water current in the wash water held in the tub and in the sub-drum simultaneously. The pulsate motion is configured to form water current in wash water held in the drum while the pulsator is driven. A performance timing of the cooling step is preset in at least one of the wash cycle or the rinse cycle.

Abstract: A laundry treating apparatus may include a main drum and an auxiliary drum selectively mounted on or separated from the main drum. A method for controlling the laundry apparatus may include rotating the main drum to cause a centrifugal force for discharging water from the auxiliary drum before supplying washing water into the auxiliary drum. The method may include one of washing laundry in the main drum while the auxiliary drum is separated from the main drum, washing laundry in only the auxiliary drum while the auxiliary drum is mounted on the main drum, or washing laundry simultaneously in the auxiliary drum and the main drum while the auxiliary drum is mounted on the main drum.
