Abstract: A guide catheter has properties that promote enhanced visibility of the guid e catheter using fluoroscopic or ultrasonic imaging techniques. The tip of the guide catheter may incorporate a material that is both fluoro and echo visible. The first material also may be provided in various amounts along th e length of the guide catheter. In addition, the guide catheter may incorporat e a reinforcing braid that includes one or more strands of a second material that is radio-opaque. As a result, the result guide catheter achieves improv ed radio-opacity and echogenicity.

Abstract: Highly stable, segmented, aliphatic polyurethanes particular processes for preparing them are disclosed. The segmented polyurethanes of this invention are substantially free of ester and ether linkages and are found to be particularly hydrolytically and oxidatively stable. The polyurethanes of this invention are prepared by a particular two stage process involving the formation of a prepolymer and subsequent reaction with simultaneously or sequentially added diisocyanate and diol monomers.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to an implantable drug depot useful for reducing, preventing or treating post-operative pain in a patient in need of such treatment, the implantable drug depot comprising a therapeutically effective amount of clonidine or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and a polymer; wherein the depot is implantable at a site beneath the skin to reduce, prevent or treat post-operative pain, and the depot is capable of releasing (i) about 5% to about 45% of the clonidine or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof relative to a total amount of the clonidine or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof loaded in the drug depot over a first period of up to 48 hours and (ii) about 55% to about 95% of the clonidine or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof relative to a total amount of the clonidine or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof loaded in the drug depot over a subsequent period of at least 3 days.
