Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a high-purity blue anthraquinone-base dispersion dye in a shortened process, by the disulfonation of 1,5-diamino-4,8-dihydroxy-anthraquinone followed by addition, rearrangement and desulfonation. CONSTITUTION:A compd. of formula II is formed by the sulfonation of 1,5-diamino- 4,8-dihydroxyanthraquinone, adjustment of sulfuric acid concentration to about 86-98% and addition of boric acid, followed by addition and rearrangement with addition of a compd. of formula I [wherein R is H, halogen, (alkoxy)alkoxy, (hydroxy-substd.) alkyl or aryl: ring A may be further substd. with a phenol, hydroxy, alkoxy, alkyl or halogen group]. Then a blue anthraquinone-base dispersion dye of formula III (wherein the terminal of -OR group may form a ring bound to ring A) is obtd. by the desulfonation of the compd. of the formula II.
