    Abstract: This invention relates to a family of aliphatic esters having the following general structure: R1-O- C(0)-R4-C(O)-[-0-R2-O-C(O)-R5-C(O)-]m-O-R3 in which: R1 is selected from one or more of the groups consisting of H, linear and branched saturated and unsaturated alkyl residues of the C1-C24 type, and polyol residues esterified with C1-C24 monocarboxylic acids; R2 comprises -CH2-C(CH3)2-CH2- and C2-C8 alkylene groups, and comprises at least 50% in moles of the said -CH2-C(CH3)2-CH2- groups; R3 is selected from one or more of the groups consisting of H, linear and branched saturated and unsaturated alkyl residues of the C1-C24 type, and polyol residues esterified with C1-C24 monocarboxylic acids; R4 and R5 comprise one or more C2-C22 alkylenes and comprise at least 50% in moles of C7 alkylenes; m lies between 1 and 20; at least one of R1 and/or R3 comprise polyol residues esterified with at least one C1-C24 monocarboxylic acid selected from the group consisting of stearic acid, palmitic acid, 9- ketostearic acid, 10-ketostearic acid and mixtures thereof. These esters are particularly suitable for use as plasticisers for various types of polymers such as for example vinyl polymers of the polyvinyl chloride (PVC) type, thermoplastic elastomers, and hydroxy acid polyesters, for example polyesters of lactic acid.

    Abstract: There is described a continuous process for the oxidative cleavage of derivatives of unsaturated carboxylic acids for the production of saturated carboxylic acids and their derivatives comprising the steps of: a) feeding to a first reactor at least a derivative of an unsaturated carboxylic acid, an oxidizing compound and a catalyst capable of catalyzing the oxidation reaction of the olefinic double bond to obtain an intermediate compound containing vicinal diols, and of b) feeding to a second reactor said intermediate compound, a compound containing oxygen and a catalyst capable of catalyzing the oxidation reaction of the vicinal diols to carboxylic groups, to obtain saturated monocarboxylic acids (i) and derivatives of saturated carboxylic acids with more than one acid function (ii); c) separating the saturated monocarboxylic acids (i) from the derivatives of carboxylic acids having more than one acid function (ii).

    Abstract: There is described a continuous process for the oxidative cleavage of vegetable oils containing triglycerides of unsaturated carboxylic acids, for the obtainment of saturated carboxylic acids, comprising the steps of: a) feeding to a first continuous reactor at least a vegetable oil, an oxidizing compound and a catalyst capable of catalyzing the oxidation reaction of the olefinic double bond to obtain an intermediate compound containing vicinal diols, and of b) feeding to a second continuous reactor said intermediate compound, a compound containing oxygen and a catalyst capable of catalyzing the oxidation reaction of the vicinal diols to carboxylic groups, to obtain saturated monocarboxylic acids (i) and triglycerides containing saturated carboxylic acids with more than one acid function (ii); c) separating the saturated monocarboxylic acids (i) from the triglycerides having more than one acid function (ii). d) hydrolyzing in a third reactor thetriglycerides having more than one acid function (ii) to obtain glycerol and saturated carboxylic acids with more than one acid function.

    Abstract: Proceso continuo para la escisión oxidativa de derivados de ácidos carboxílicos insaturados para la producción de ácidos carboxílicos saturados caracterizado por que comprende las etapas de: a) alimentar a un primer reactor continuo al menos un derivado de un ácido carboxílico insaturado, un compuesto oxidante y un catalizador que puede catalizar la reacción de oxidación del enlace doble olefínico para obtener un compuesto intermedio que contiene dioles adyacentes, y de b) alimentar a un segundo reactor continuo dicho compuesto intermedio, un compuesto que contiene oxígeno y un catalizador que puede catalizar la reacción de oxidación de los dioles adyacentes a grupos carboxílicos, para obtener ácidos monocarboxílicos saturados (i) y derivados de ácidos carboxílicos saturados con más de una función ácido (ii); b-i) separar la fase acuosa de la fase orgánica del producto obtenido como salida de la Etapa b); c) transferir la fase orgánica del producto de la Etapa b) a un aparato adecuado para separar los ácidos monocarboxílicos saturados (i) de los derivados de ácidos carboxílicos que tienen más de una función ácido (ii); teniendo lugar las operaciones de alimentación de reactivos y retirada de productos simultáneamente durante toda la duración del proceso, permaneciendo sustancialmente invariables las condiciones del proceso en cada etapa.
