PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trocar piercing apparatus by which a trocar can easily be pierced into an abdominal cavity even while aeroperitoneum is not performed. SOLUTION: The distal end edge of a trocar fixing tool 14 where an ultrasonic trocar 2 is arranged is placed fitted to the abdominal wall, and the abdominal wall is sucked and pulled into the trocar fixing tool 14. Thus, the abdominal wall is pierced by the ultrasonic trocar 2 to communicate with the inside of the ultrasonic trocar 2. A sending air flow rate to be sent to the distal end of the ultrasonic trocar 2 is measured. By the variation of the sending air flow rate, it is detected that the ultrasonic trocar 2 is pierced through the abdominal wall. On the basis of this information, the piercing operation of the ultrasonic trocar is suppressed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric surgical apparatus for reliably detecting a short circuit between the electrodes of a treatment implement. SOLUTION: The apparatus includes: the treatment implement 3 for treating organism tissue with a high frequency current; a high frequency generating circuit 7 for supplying the high frequency current to the treatment implement 3; and a control circuit 13 for controlling the supply of the high frequency current from the high frequency generating circuit 7 to the treatment implement 3 by repeating a supply period and a stop period at a predetermined times and prescribed interval. Organism tissue impedance is calculated based on the high frequency current to be supplied to the treatment implement 3, and then, compared with a prescribed threshold. Thus, the short circuit is detected in the treatment implement. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To collect and store medical information efficiently and to transmit the medical information at need by using an inexpensive and compact configuration. SOLUTION: The subject medical information collecting system comprises a communication I/F 43 for carrying out communication with one or more medical devices, a first memory 44 for temporarily storing history information on a medical device obtained by the communication I/F 43, a control section 40, and a second memory 45. The control section determines whether or not history information similar to the history information on the medical device obtained by the communication I/F 43 is already acquired, or determines whether or not the content of the history information on the medical device obtained by the communication I/F 43 is different from the content of the latest history information among already acquired similar history information. The second memory 45 then stores the history information on the medical device obtained by the communication I/F 43 in a predetermined format as a record on the basis of the determination result in the control section 40. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switch controlling device which never bothers an observation of an endoscopic image during a surgery and enables a confirmation of a function assigned to switch means such as a foot switch and a hand switch when necessary. SOLUTION: Image signals, which are fetched from a camera head 23 and are output from an image processor 22, are input to a foot switch controlling device 28. The image signals are processed at a display controlling part 28a of the foot switch controlling device 28, and are displayed after being input to a display 21. The display controlling part 28a reads out the image showing a status of the foot switch corresponding to the function of the foot switch currently assigned to the input endoscopic image from a storage part 28c, and performs the process of superposing the image on the endoscopic image.
