    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel which can reduce power consumption while maintaining high transmittance of a dielectric layer.SOLUTION: In the plasma display panel, a back plate and a front plate that has a display electrode and a dielectric layer are opposed to each other. The dielectric layer comprises silica particles and a glass layer and has a dielectric constant of 5 or less. The silica particles have particle diameters of 100-1000 nm. The surface area of each of the silica particles is two or more times as large as the surface area of a sphere circumscribed about the silica particle.

The process of forming a dielectric layer includes: a step of applying a dielectric paste on the substrate; and a step of drying the applied dielectric paste. A difference between a boiling point of a solvent having a highest boiling point among solvents included in the dielectric paste and a drying temperature at the step of drying is set at 140°C or above and 180°C or below.
