    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problems that groove formation and addresses are determined without considering contiguous reproduction across a plurality of recording layers, and consequently loss of performance and an increase in a cost of an apparatus for reproducing such information recording medium are incurred. SOLUTION: An optical disk has a first recording layer and a second recording layers placed one over the other in such a manner that information recorded in each layer is optically readable from one side of the disk. Tracks are formed on the first and second recording layers with a plurality of sectors provided along the tracks. The tracks on the first and second layers are in a spiral pattern and arranged such that the spiral patterns on the first and second layers have opposite winding directions when viewed from the same side of the disk. The sector addresses provided to the first recording layer increasing from the most inside circumference to the most outside circumference, and the sector addresses provided to the second recording layer increase from the most outside circumference to the most inside circumference.
