Abstract:
Media access control is provided for an ultra-wide band medium. The media access control may employ a peer-to-peer network topology. The media access control may employ a reduced addressing scheme. Concurrent ultra-wide band channels may be established through the use of a pulse division multiple access channelization scheme. Multiple media access control states may be defined whereby each state may be associated with one or more of different channel parameter state information, different duty cycles, and different synchronization status.
Abstract:
Techniques are disclosed for performing robust feature matching for visual search. An apparatus comprising an interface and a feature matching unit may implement these techniques. The interface receives a query feature descriptor. The feature matching unit then computes a distance between a query feature descriptor and reference feature descriptors and determines a first group of the computed distances and a second group of the computed distances in accordance with a clustering algorithm, where this second group of computed distances comprises two or more of the computed distances. The feature matching unit then determines whether the query feature descriptor matches one of the reference feature descriptors associated with a smallest one of the computed distances based on the determined first group and second group of the computed distances.
Abstract:
A method for generating a feature descriptor is provided. A set of pre-generated sparse projection vectors is obtained. A scale space for an image is also obtained, where the scale space having a plurality scale levels. A descriptor for a keypoint in the scale space is then generated based on a combination of the sparse projection vectors and sparsely sampled pixel information for a plurality of pixels across the plurality of scale levels.
Abstract:
Frequency of an oscillating signal is temporarily adjusted to adjust frequency and/or phase of an output signal. For example, the frequency of the oscillating signal may be adjusted for a very short period of time to adjust the phase of the output signal. In addition, the frequency of the oscillating signal may be temporarily adjusted in a repeated manner to adjust the effective frequency of the output signal. In some aspects the frequency of the oscillating signal is adjusted by reconfiguration of reactive circuits associated with an oscillator circuit.
Abstract:
The subject matter disclosed herein relates to a system and method for establishing communication between a low duty cycle device and other devices through a wireless communication network. In one particular implementation, the low duty cycle device may awaken from a hibernating state in synchronization with transmission of messages.
Abstract:
A multiple access technique for a wireless communication system establishes separate channels by defining different time intervals for different channels. In a transmitted reference system different delay periods may be defined between transmitted reference pulses and associated data pulses for different channels. In addition, a multiple access technique may employ a common reference pulse for multiple channels in a transmitted reference system. Another multiple access technique assigns different pulse repetition periods to different channels. One or more of these techniques may be employed in an ultra-wide band system.
Abstract:
A tunable delay line is calibrated to maintain the delay of the delay line at a desired value or within a desired range of values. In some aspects a signal is passed through a delay line multiple times so that the cumulative delay of the signal through the delay line (e.g., as indicated by a count) may be calculated over a period of time. The count is compared with an expected count and, based on this comparison, the delay of the delay line is adjusted as necessary. In some aspects the signal may comprise a digital signal. In some aspects a delay through a delay line may be calculated based on analysis of amplitude changes in a signal caused by a phase shift imparted on the signal by the delay line. In some aspects a delay line is incorporated into a transmitted reference system to generate and/or process transmitted reference signals.
Abstract:
Processing may be performed by a first device on behalf of a second device to offload processing from the second device. In some aspects a device from which processing has been offloaded may be advantageously adapted to consume less power, have a smaller size, and have less complexity. Offloaded processing may be employed to enable a first device to process data for transmission and then send the data to another device for processing. Offloaded processing may be employed to enable a first device to process data on behalf of a second device and then send the processed data to the second device. In some aspects the data may be waveform encoded for wireless transmission between the devices. Offloaded processing may be implemented in a static manner or in a dynamic manner.
Abstract:
Operating a communication device in a half-duplex mode using only overhead channels; and substantially free running a timing reference obtained during reception to allow a timing reference value to drift during transmission.
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods and apparatus for color rendering in a binary high-dimensional output device, e.g. an Adjustable Interferometric Modulation Display (AIMOD). The methods and apparatus are configured to receive color data of a source color space e.g. sRGB, and then map the received data to an intermediate color space e.g. CIELAB. From this intermediated space, color rendering is performed using a pre-generated number of extended primary colors (900) for temporal modulation. Each of the pre-generated extended primary colors is made up of a combination of at least two subframes (WWW, KKK, PPP, WKP) with each subframe having a respective primary color, i.e. White (W), Black (K) and another Primary Colour (P). Through use of temporally modulated, pre-generated extended primaries in the color space, the methods and apparatus afford a reduction in the diffusion error (904) for subsequent neighboring pixels yet to be rendered, particularly when using constrained devices such as binary high-dimensional output devices.
