Abstract: A method of wireless communication by a user equipment, UE, and a base station are described. The method performed by the UE comprises transmitting, to a base station, a MSG1 (504) of a random access channel, RACH, procedure over a first bandwidth of a system bandwidth that is less than the system bandwidth, receiving, from the base station after transmitting the MSG1 (504), a MSG2 (506) of the RACH procedure over the first bandwidth, receiving, from the base station after transmitting the MSG1 (504) and receiving the MSG2 (506), a MSG4 of the RACH procedure that indicates one or more resources for one or more beam reference signals, BRSs (510, 518), associated with a second bandwidth of the system bandwidth, receiving the one or more BRSs (510, 518) over one or more portions of the second bandwidth, the one or more portions of the second bandwidth being different than the first bandwidth, performing beam quality measurements of the one or more BRSs (510, 518) in the one or more portions of the second bandwidth and transmitting, to the base station, feedback based on the beam quality measurements of the one or more BRSs (510, 518) and receiving, from the base station, a physical downlink shared channel, PDSCH (520), over the second bandwidth.

Abstract: In aspects, an initial access procedure may include a random access channel (RACH) procedure. Thereby, a user equipment (UE) may determine a preconfigured frequency band that is less than an available system bandwidth, perform an initial access procedure with a base station (BS) using the preconfigured frequency band, the initial access procedure including a random access channel (RACH) procedure and perform a data communication with the base station (BS) using a second frequency band of the available system bandwidth, wherein the second frequency band is at a different location of the available system bandwidth than the preconfigured frequency band.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may report a phase-noise compensation reference signal (PCRS) configuration to a base station to enable per-UE PCRS signaling. For example, a UE may operate in a wireless communications system using carrier frequencies greater than 6 GHz, which may be affected by phase noise. The UE may accordingly determine a PCRS configuration based on a capability to receive signals. The PCRS configuration may include a resource mapping for one or more PCRS, a number of PCRS ports used for PCRS, a multiplexing scheme for one or more PCRS ports, or the UE's phase noise estimation capability. The UE may then transmit a reporting message including the PCRS configuration to a base station. The base station may use the PCRS configuration for PCRS transmissions to the UE.
