    Abstract: A UE receives a first configuration for at least one RRM measurement gap. The UE receives one or more PRSs prior to the at least one RRM measurement gap. The UE identifies whether a processing availability of the UE during the at least one RRM measurement gap is sufficient to process the one or more PRSs. The UE processes the one or more PRSs, where in response to the processing availability of the UE during the at least one RRM measurement gap, the one or more PRSs are processed during the at least one RRM measurement gap; and in response to lack of the processing availability of the UE sufficient to process the one or more PRSs during the at least one RRM measurement gap, the one or more PRSs are processed, at least in part, outside of the at least one RRM measurement gap.

    Abstract: In one example, a method comprises: receiving assistance data from a location server; classifying a plurality of candidate cells in the assistance data into a first group of candidate cells and a second group of candidate cells, wherein the classification is based on whether a candidate cell transmits position reference signal (PRS) symbols in one or more multimedia broadcast single frequency network (MBSFN) subframes in a positioning occasion, and based on a cyclic prefix (CP) length of the PRS symbols being transmitted by the candidate cell in the positioning occasion; selecting, based on one or more predetermined criteria, one of the first group or the second group of candidate cells to measure the one or more PRS in the positioning occasion; and measuring the one or more PRS from one of the first group or the second group of candidate cells in the positioning occasion to measure PRS measurements.

    Abstract: A mobile device and base station are enabled to support improved positioning accuracy in the presence of phase noise in high frequency radio network, such as in 5G New Radio network operating in mmWave. Phase Tracking Reference Signal (PTRS) may be transmitted with Positioning Reference Signals (PRS) and used for positioning and/or used to correct the phase offset between symbols in the PRS. A request may be made to transmit PTRS alone or with the PRS, or that the PRS is transmitted with a specific PRS frame structure, e.g., with a specific comb value, that minimizes the impact of phase noise. The PTRS or a phase ramp of the staggered symbols in the PRS may be used to estimate and correct the phase offset. Less than all of the symbols transmitted in the PRS may be used to generate positioning measurements to minimize the impact of phase noise.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for saving power while performing radio access technology measurements. An exemplary method that may be performed by user equipment (UE) includes obtaining a configuration indicating a measurement gap for the UE to measure one or more non-serving cells, wherein the UE does not receive data transmissions from a serving cell during the measurement gap, deciding not to measure the non-serving cells during a period including at least a portion of the measurement gap, and deactivating a receive chain of the UE during the period.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques allow a user equipment (UE) to efficiently identify a trigger state that is linked to a configuration for receiving and measuring reference signals from a transmission and reception point (TRPs). The UE may receive an indication of different lists of trigger states associated with different TRPs, and, when the UE receives downlink control information (DCI) indicating a trigger state index, the UE may reference an appropriate list to identify the trigger state corresponding to the trigger state index. In particular, the UE may determine a control resource set (CORESET) pool index of a CORESET in which the DCI is received, and the UE may identify the trigger state corresponding to the trigger state index from a list of trigger states associated with the CORESET pool index.

    Abstract: A user equipment includes a processor configured to: receive a first, second, and third reference signals including a first, second, and third sets of tones, and spanning first, second, and third frequency ranges in first and second sets of symbols and at least one third symbol, respectively, the first and second frequency ranges differing; where at least one of (1) the third frequency range overlaps the first frequency range, or (2) the at least one third symbol overlaps with the first set of symbols and the third frequency range overlaps the second frequency range; determine an offset between the first reference signal and the supplemental signal using the third set of tones; and determine a first indication, of a time and/or a range, based on a combination of the first reference signal and the second reference signal using the offset.
