Abstract: A motor controller having low standby power consumption is provided. The motor controller includes a direct current (DC) bus. The motor controller also includes a low-power supply. The motor controller also includes an inverter configured to control a supply of current to stator windings of a motor. The motor controller also includes a switch circuit coupled between the DC bus and the low-power supply. The motor controller also includes a switch controller coupled to the switch circuit and configured to be coupled to a system controller. The switch controller is configured to control the switch circuit to electrically decouple, in response to detecting an absence of a control signal from the system controller, the DC bus from the low-power supply.

Abstract: A motor controller and methods for operating a motor are described herein. The motor controller includes a high-frequency (HF) inverter having a direct current (DC) input stage and an alternating current (AC) output stage, the HF inverter operable at a switching frequency to generate a three-phase output having a fundamental frequency. The motor controller also includes a differential mode (DM) filter coupled in series with the output stage of the HF inverter and having a resonant frequency less than 10% of the switching frequency, the DM filter configured to reduce harmonic components of the three-phase output and generate a first filtered output. The motor controller further includes a common mode (CM) filter coupled in series with the DM filter, the CM filter configured to filter the first filtered output to generate a second filtered output having a reduced CM voltage to operate the electric motor with a reduced bearing current.

Abstract: A motor controller for controlling an electric motor includes a motion control microcontroller unit (MCU) for storing initial control parameters for the electric motor, and a wireless receiver communicatively coupled to the motion control MCU. The wireless receiver is configured to activate in response to initiation of a wireless connection with a remote device, receive a wireless control signal from the remote device, the wireless control signal including updated control parameters, and transmit the updated control parameters to the motion control MCU. The motor controller also includes an energy management system configured to power the wireless receiver and the motion control MCU.

The motor controller may include an energy management system configured to power the at least one integrated sensor for at least a portion of the period of time, and a memory device configured to store the sensor data. The motor controller may include a data management system configured to communicate the sensor data from the at least one integrated sensor to at least one of the memory device and a remote device.

Abstract: A ground assembly includes a first layer, a second layer, and a bypass capacitor. The first layer includes a power ground, a communication ground spaced from the power ground, a conductive path defining a parasitic inductance and electrically coupled between the power ground and the communication ground, and an electrically insulating layer. At least a portion of the insulating layer is positioned between the power and communication grounds. Abstract: Protection of an electric motor drive controller from a transient voltage is described herein. The transient voltage is provided by an alternating current (AC) power line that includes a line conductor, a neutral conductor, and a ground conductor. The transient voltage protection system includes a first stage protection device coupled to an input of a rectifier of the motor drive controller. The first stage protection device is configured to suppress the transient voltage to prevent damage to the motor drive controller. The transient voltage protection system also includes a second stage protection device coupled between the rectifier and an inverter of the motor drive controller. The second stage protection device is configured to further suppress the transient voltage to prevent damage to the inverter.
