Abstract: A modified polymer material is disclosed which comprises: a polymer base; and boehmite particles provided in the polymer base, the boehmite particles comprising mainly needle shaped particles having an aspect ratio of at least about 3: 1, wherein the aspect ration is the ratio of the longest dimension to the next largest dimension. The disclosure particularly describes the needle shaped boehmite particles that are particularly adapted to use as fillers for thermoplastic resins.
