Abstract: A pant type absorbent article such as a pant diaper, a sanitary pant or incontinence pant, said article having a core region (3) comprising an absorbent core (2) and a chassis region (4) surrounding the core region. Abstract: An absorbent article with an absorbent body enclosed between inner and outer casing sheets and a stiffening element extending from the rear, through the intermediate, and into the front part of the article. The stiffening element's front and rear parts are broader than its intermediate part and the stiffening element is not wider than 4 cm at its front to intermediate transition region. Side flaps are formed by at least some parts of the remainder of the article which extend laterally beyond the stiffening element, so that the distance between side-edges of the stiffening element and an edge of the side flap varies within the region. The stretch resistance of the side flaps is greater than the stiffening element's longitudinal bending resistance, so inward pressing of the side flaps causes the stiffening element to curve longitudinally, to obtain an upwardly concave shape adapted to the shape of a wearer's body.

Abstract: Absorbent pants having a waist opening, two leg openings, and a waterproof outer barrier layer, which is arranged outside the pants layer. The pants layer has a surface area which is greater than that of the outer barrier layer and is joined in parts with itself or includes a device for enabling it to be joined in parts with itself, so that during use of the pants it alone constitutes the waist opening and the leg openings of the pants, and that the load-bearing parts of the pants and all of the parts lying against the body of the user are formed only from the pants layer. The pants are also elastic, where the outer barrier layer is essentially inelastic.
