Abstract: A connector for coaxial cables having an inner conductor (14) and an outer conductor (10) separated by a dielectric (16) includes a front body (4) to attach a coaxial cable in the connector and a rear body (8) adapted for connection to the front body (4), and a device for holding the cable in the connector in a manner that permits reproducible deformation of the outer conductor (10) during the connecting operation. The device for holding the cable in position is comprised of a ferrule (1) for holding the coaxial cable, and a bushing (2) that cooperates with the ferrule (1) to permit axial movement of the coaxial cable over a determined distance (L) in the connector during the connecting operation. The surfaces of ferrule (1) and bushing (2) cooperate to produce reproducible compression and/or deformation of the outer conductor (10) between said ferrule (1) and said bushing (2) during said connecting operation. The connector enables the coaxial cable to be deformed during the connection operation in an automatically reproducible manner without requiring precise measurements or special tools. The impedence fault value produced by the deformation of the outer conductor can be predetermined and is automatically reproduced during each connection operation.

Abstract: A coaxial connector mountable on an end of a coaxial cable having a central conductor (cc) and an exterior conductor (ce), the connector comprising a first conductive contact element (2; 27; 38; 40) for contacting the central conductor (cc), a second conductive contact element (4; 21; 302; 411) for contacting the exterior conductor (ce) electrically isolated from the first contact element, a clamping member (5; 22; 42) opposing the second contact element for clamping the exterior conductor against the second contact element and a force applying member (6; 23; 441) for forcing the clamping member and the second contact element towards each other, wherein the second contact element and/or the clamping member comprise at least one deforming member (502; 222-223; 423-424) for deforming the exterior conductor (ce) under influence of the force applying member, wherein each deforming member (502; 222-223; 423- 424) is constructed in a material with a predetermined hardness above that of the material of the exterior conductor and has a predetermined shape for hardening a portion of the exterior conductor to such an extent that it becomes substantially fully elastic.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for preparing coaxial cables by cutting the outer conductor, the dielectric and the central conductor to length, the cable being first cut perpendicularly to its axis, and then treated by means of a tool with a blade (3) allowing to shear the sheath off, while a guide (7) comes to rest on the central conductor and, under the action of a positioning and abutment device (8), (9), (10), one or more supplementary blades (5), i.e. (14), (15) respectively, cut the outer conductor, the dielectric and the inner conductor, and possibly the outer conductor is treated by means of a flaring tool.The invention also relates to a special tool for this coaxial cable preparing method, which comprises a blade (3) allowing to shear the sheath off;a guide (7) which may rest on the central conductor;a positioning and abutment tool (8), (9), (10);one or more supplementary blades (5), i.e. (14), (15) respectively, allowing to cut the outer conductor, the dielectric and the inner conductor.
