Abstract: PURPOSE:To adjust the oscillating frequency by selecting a binary code of selection terminals so as to turn on a proper MOS switch thereby selecting taps of oscillation resistors. CONSTITUTION:Four states are selected for selection terminals 19, 20 of a decoder circuit 21 by using a binary code and in turning on MOS switches 11-14 one by one, the tap position of a built-in resistor 10 is selected. Since the resistance is varied therewith, the oscillation frequency is changed from the oscillation frequency fosc proportional 1/(CR) to adjust the frequency. In an actual IC, since it is manufactured by a value close to the designed resistance, the tap position is provided in the vicinity of the resistance and slight adjustment is applied, for example, eight kinds of selections are attained by three terminals and 16 kinds of selections are attained by four terminals, and minute adjustment is applied. Conversely, a wide tap position is adopted and the oscillating frequency is changed largely in the same CR oscillator to output various frequencies as another application.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To generate a sound of free tone quality by interposing a switch between the output of a 1st DA converting circuit and a reference voltage at which the gain of a 2nd DA converting circuit is 0. CONSTITUTION:The MOS switch 65 is provided between the output terminal of the 1st DA converting circuit 58 and the reference voltage at which the gain of the 1st DA converting circuit is 0. For example, the MOS switch 65 is turned on when loudness data from a main ROM become all 0. Consequently, the waveform of a free sound and the strength of an envelope and the sound are provided to generate sound of various tone quality, and rhythm sounds of different tone quality are generated.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To adjust loudness by notes by increasing the gain of an envelope shape by loudness data through an adding circuit. CONSTITUTION:An envelope ROM 55 is stored with data obtained by converting the envelope shape into a digital value. A main ROM is stored with pause data on notes, an envelope counter 56 is reset with a short pulse at the end of each note to reset an envelope ROM 55 to an address 0, and an envelope counter 56 counts up with the frequency of the shortest note to output envelope data. The loudness data of the main ROM is inputted to an input terminal 52 and added to the envelope data by an adding circuit 57 to increase the envelope data by the loudness data. Consequently, loudness is adjusted by notes.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To adjust the oscillating frequency by selecting a binary code of a selection terminal and applying set or reset to a flip-flop FF of a frequency division circuit of the next stage in a timing so as to vary the frequency division ratio. CONSTITUTION:Four stages are selected by a binary code of selection terminals 16, 17 of a control circuit 18 and FFs 11,12 are set at a timing, then pulses having frequencies of 1/2, 1/4, 1/6, 1/8 of the oscillating frequency are outputted from an output terminal 15. In this state, a rough frequency output is obtained, and number of selection terminals is increased to form 8-state, 16-state, 32-state and 64-state, then the frequencies from 1/2 to 1/64 are obtained to attain the adjustment of the frequencies.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To generate a sound of free tone quality by resetting the contents of a 1st counter and resetting a 1st memory to an address 0 when pause data on the sound in a 3rd memory is active. CONSTITUTION:A main ROM is stored with pause data on a note, an envelope counter 56 is reset with a short pulse at the end of each note by its data output, and an envelope ROM 55 is reset to the address 0. Further, the envelope counter 56 counts up with the frequency of the shortest note and outputs envelope data. Then a 1st DA converting circuit 58 converts the digital data on an envelope from an adding circuit 57 into an analog voltage value. Consequently, the waveform and envelope of a free sound and the strength of the sound are provided to generate sounds of various tone quality, and rhythm sounds of different tone quality can be generated.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To generate sound of various tone quality by generating the fundamental frequencies of a noise and a rhythm sound with a rectangular wave and adding an envelope. CONSTITUTION:Bell sound programmable counters 80 and 82 divide an input frequency by data outputs of bell sound ROMs 79 and 81 stored with frequency data on the sound of a rectangular wave to output the frequency of the sound of a target rectangular wave. Then, a noise from a noise generating circuit 78 and rectangular waves of different frequencies from the bell sound programmable counters 80 and 82 are mixed by a 4th DA converting circuit 83 and the maximum operating voltage of a 4th DA converting circuit 83 is used as the analog output voltage of a 3rd DA converting circuit 77 to output a rhythm sound to which an envelope is added. Consequently, a rhythm sound such as sounds of drums, cymbals, bells, etc., are generated freely with the noises, rectangular waves, and envelopes added thereto.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To generate a sound of free tone by regarding the output voltage value of a 2nd DA converting circuit as the maximum limit voltage of a 1st DA converting circuit. CONSTITUTION:This device is equipped with the 2nd DA converting circuit which regards the analog voltage value of a 1st DA converting circuit 58 as a maximum value to convert the digital output data of a waveform ROM 61 into an analog voltage waveform. Then the output of the 2nd DA converting circuit is the final output terminal 64 of a sound source outputting the waveform of sound to which an envelope is added. Therefore, the analog waveform of the envelope is easily added to the analog output waveform of the sound. Consequently, the waveform of the free sound and the strength of the sound are provided to generate sounds of various tone, and rhythm sounds of different tone can be generated.
