    Abstract: An ink composition for ink jet recording is provided which can satisfy property requirements of quality of print, drying property of print, clogging resistance, water resistance, storage stability, and nonattacking on members constituting an ink passage, such as a printing head. The ink composition for ink jet recording comprises a dye represented by the following formula (I), glycerin, pyrrolidone, a monohydric lower alcohol, a tri(hydroxyalkyl)amine, and water: (I) wherein R1 represents phenyl or naphthyl substituted by a group selected from hydroxyl, -NH2, -SO3M and -COOM, R2 represents carboxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, phenyl, or alkanoyl, R3, R4, and R5 represent hydrogen or -SO3M.

    Abstract: An ink-jet recording apparatus having an ink-jet recording head (7, 8) including pressure generating chambers (49) communicatively connected to a nozzle opening (52) and a reservoir (50), pressure generating means (42) for pressurising the pressure generating chambers (49), and control means for applying drive signals corresponding to print data to the recording head and for minutely vibrating meniscuses of ink in the nozzle openings to such an extent as to not eject ink droplets during a nonprint period. The control means ejects ink droplets from the nozzle openings in accordance with print data during printing operations, and minutely vibrates meniscuses of ink formed at the nozzle openings a pre-set period of time before or after the discharging of the ink droplets in a printing operation. Minutely vibrating means (23, 42, 68) are provided having a first operation mode in which the meniscuses of the nozzle openings are vibrated plural times in succession for a predetermined time period, and a drive signal for discharging ink droplets is applied to said pressure generating means after said meniscuses are placed in a state capable of discharging ink droplets.
