Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device which makes an adjustment of test recording and the like, on a disk by using a user data zone, to improve the adjustment accuracy. SOLUTION: In order to allow a recording test in the user data zone, a portion of the user data zone is replaced with a replacement region and is set to be a region for the recording test as a region for adjustment. For example, the region for the recording test set in the user data zone may be set in an area including a speed change point of 4X speed and 6X speed and an area including a speed change point of 6X speed and 8X speed when the region of the optical disk is divided into three areas which can be recorded at 4X, 6X, and 8X recording speeds. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a recording and playback device to easily confirm the maximum address of a user data recordable region in each of a plurality of recording layers, with respect to a recordable type disk having the plurality of recording layers. SOLUTION: In the recordable type recording medium such as a DVD+R and a DVD+RW having the plurality of recording layers, the maximum address (the maximum PSN of a layer 0) of a recordable region (data zone) of user data of each recording layer (layer) is recorded by physical format information by a wobbling groove, and the maximum address of the data zone of each layer is confirmed by the information, in the recording and playback device. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk drive device which executes recording processing while adequately controlling a tilt even if a level of return light varies for some reason such as the unevenness of a recording film of a disk, and also provide its signal recording method. SOLUTION: A system controller 15 stops the control of laser power to be performed by an ROPC part 21 based on an RF signal 36 when a variation quantity which a laser power variation quantity acquisition part 40 acquires and a variation quantity which an RF signal level variation quantity acquisition part 50 acquires are at least threshold values. The system controller 15 stops the control made by the ROPC part 21 and makes a tilt control part 20 start tilt control. That is, recording processing is executed while alternately changing the tilt control and the laser power control. For example, when the tilt control is made, the laser power control is stopped, and accordingly a level of return light from the disk 2 is adequately detected to prevent the deterioration of quality in recording. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible for a recording/reproducing apparatus to easily check the maximum address of a user-data-recordable region in each recording layer, on a recordable disk having a plurality of recording layers. SOLUTION: On a recording medium such as a DVD+R or DVD+RW disc having the plurality of recording layers, the maximum address (i.e., the maximum physical sector number of a layer) of the user-data-recordable region (data zone) in each recording layer is recorded as physical format information in a wobbling groove.
