Abstract: PURPOSE:To optimize reproducing efficiency when a track is narrowed down by setting a ratio t/w to be 2-12 between thickness (t) and track width (w) in the track breadthwise direction of a magnetic core excepting for a magnetic gap forming part. CONSTITUTION:When the core thickness (t) is more than 12 times of the track width (w), the magnetic resistance of magnetic cores 2 and 3 is made small. However, a leaked magnetic flux is enlarged and the reproducing efficiency is lowered. When the core thickness (t) is less than double to the track width (w), the leaked magnetic flux is reduced. However, the magneto-resistance of the magnetic cores 2 and 3 is enlarged and the reproducing efficiency is lowered. Thus, for the thickness (t) and track width (w) in the track width (w) direction of the magnetic cores 2 and 3 excepting for a magnetic gap (g) forming part, since the ratio t/w is set to be 2-12, the reproducing efficiency can be made optimum for a narrow track magnetic head 1 which track width is less than 10mum, especially, less than 5mum.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold for molding a board, which can mold the resin board of a recording medium capable of reducing wear caused by friction with a head slider as small as possible and capable of improving its repeat durability. SOLUTION: In a stamper 1, at least a recording layer is formed on a board made of resin material. The stamper is used for molding the board of a recording medium, the surface of which has an information recording region, in which the recording of information signals and/or its regeneration and performed with a head slider equipped with a recording and regenerating element under a floating state when the stamper rotates, and a contact region, in which the head slider comes into contact with the stamper when the stamper stops. This stamper 1 has an information recording region forming region 2 corresponding to the information recording of the recording medium and a contact region forming region 3 corresponding to the contact region of the recording medium on its molding surface. In addition, in this contact region forming region 3, a predetermined uneven pattern produced by regularly arranging recessed parts 3a under the condition that the area occupied by these recessed parts 3a is set to be 0.8-5.75% of the total area of the contact region forming region 3.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium and a magnetic recording apparatus in which a recording blur can be removed, in which a perpendicular magnetic recording system can be adopted effectively even by using a single- layer-film structure and in which a high-density recording operation can be realized. SOLUTION: An information signal is recorded on a magnetic disk 3 by a recording head 8a which is mounted on a head slider a part of which is levitated in a recording operation. In the magnetic disk 3, a magnetic layer 14 which is provided with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy is formed on a substrate 13. Prescribed uneven patterns are formed on the surface of a disk medium. A width size W1 in a direction at right angles to the running direction of the recording head 8a in a protruding part 3a out of the prescribed uneven parts is at the recording track width size W2 or lower of the recording head 8a. The information signal is recorded on the protruding part 3a by the recording head 8a according to a perpendicular magnetic recording system.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the reliability of a disc by forming an irregular shape on the molding surface while differentiating the height of a row of pits in a contact region from the height of irregularities in an information recording region thereby sustaining a stabilized floating attitude when a head slider slides from the contact region to the information recording region. SOLUTION: In the molding die 10 for a disc substrate provided with an irregular part for recording information on the surface and a row of pits contacting a head slider in the inner or outer circumference thereof, an irregular shape is formed on a molding surface 11 while differentiating the height of irregularities for molding an irregular part from that of irregularities for molding the row of pits. The molding die 10 is made of a highly heat resistant material having high hardness, e.g. a cobaltless superfine particle tungsten alloy or SUS 440 series stainless steel, and a row of discrete magnetic disc CSS zone pits or irregularities 11a, 11b for molding an irregular part in data zone are provided in the molding surface 11. An injection molder or a compression molder is provided with the molding die 10 thus molding a disc substrate directly without requiring any stamper.
