Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a printer constituted so that the pressure contact force of a roller to a platen is made changeable at the times of printing and non- printing not only to prevent the cutting inferiority of printing paper at the time of printing but also to allow only rotation obstructing force to act on the platen in a degree possible to neglect at the time of non-printing. CONSTITUTION:In a printer wherein a printing head 12 is provided so as to be displaceable between a pressure contact position and a standby position with respect to a platen 8 and a roller 73 is brought into contact with the platen 8, the pressure contact force of the roller 73 to the platen 8 is made changeable so that it becomes strong at the standby position of the printing head 12 and weak at the pressure contact position thereof.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the mismatching of the set mode of a printer and the gradation recording characteristics of rolled paper and a printing mistake by the storage side of residue by forming a section to be detected for detecting recording characteristics, a section to be detected for detecting residue and an engaging section for obviating surface-rear erroneous mounting to the end section of a spool main section made of a synthetic resin. CONSTITUTION:Each section of a spool 2 is shaped integrally by a synthetic resin. When a roll-paper winding body is installed to a rolled-paper mounting section 20, the inserting protruding section 24 of a support member 22 is inserted to the other end 8b of the inserting hole 8 of the spool 2. Since the diameter of one end 8a and the diameter of the other end 8b differs in the inserting hole 8 at theat time, the inserting protruding section 24 cannot be inserted to one end 8a of the inserting hole 8 in the direction opposite to the above- mentioned direction. A detecting section 25 discriminates the gradation recording characteristics of the heat-sensitive roll paper of the roll-paper winding body 1A set up to the roll-paper mounting section 20 and detects the residue of the heat-sensitive rolled paper. Bent sections 26a, 27a are formed to sections near the nose sections of pieces to be pushed 26, 27 respectively, these other end sections and switches 28, 29 are fitted to a switch mounting plate 30, and the recording characteristics of the heat-sensitive roll paper mounted can be discriminated according to which of the switches 28 and 29 a pulse signal is transmitted through.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable roll paper to be set through a simple operation by constituting the title printer in such a manner that a printing head and a platen are separated from each other when a sub-chassis mounted on a main chassis in a freely extractable/retractable manner is extracted. CONSTITUTION:When a sub-chassis 17 is extracted from a main chassis 16, a roll paper P is stored into a roll paper storage 14, the winding/unwinding end P' of printing paper P is placed on a platen 13, and the sub-chassis 17 is pushed back into the main chassis 16, then bearing bushes 22a on both ends of a rotating center shaft 22 on the platen 13 are fitted into a positioning long groove 23 provided on the right and left side plates 16b, 16c of the main chassis 16, selecting the position of the platen 13. And, the sub-chassis 17 is locked by a locking mechanism 25, and the winding/unwinding end P' of roll paper P is automatically sandwiched between a printing head 12 and the platen 13. When the printing head is allowed to come down, the winding/unwinding end P' of the roll paper P is held between the printing head and the platen 13. The main chassis 16 is low, and a printer can be made into a thinner type by arranging the platen and the roll paper storage in a horizontal direction.

Printing on a printing surface by the printing head is carried out on forward path or backward path. The position of the head hold lever with respect to the printing surface is changed when the cam engagement part for forward path is engaged with the cam guide part and when the cam engagement part for backward path is engaged with the cam guide part. At the time of non-printing in which printing on the printing surface is not carried out, the printing head is held in a position separate from the printing surface between the guide member and the printing surface.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent breakage during transportation and the like, and to improve the handleability when in use and the like by enabling a movable thermal head 11 to be simply and repeatedly fixed and released.
SOLUTION: There are set a hook 21 for fixing the movable thermal head 11, a lever 22 for operating the hook 21, and a button 23 coupled to the lever 22. When the button 23 is pulled, the lever 22 is drawn and the upper end of the hook 21 rotates forward. At the same time, the lower end of the hook 21 rotates rearward to hook the thermal head 11, whereby the downward rotation of the thermal head 11 is restrained. When the button 23 is pressed, the lever 22 is pushed in, and the upper end of the hook 21 rotates rearward. At the same time, the lower end of the hook 21 rotates forward and separates from the thermal head 11. The downward rotation of the thermal head 11 is enabled.
