Abstract: A laser scanning apparatus raster scans an input laser beam ( 0) by using an acousto-optic deflector arrangement. The laser beam is horizontally scanned by a pair of acousto-optic deflectors (13a, 13b). Thus, a laser scanning apparatus can be realised which is low in noise, of excellent durability, small in size, light in weight and which can display a picture of high quality at high speed.

Abstract: A laser scanning apparatus (A1) having horizontal and vertical deflection means (7; 13) for deflecting n laser beams of the same wavelength modulated by n kinds of pattern information signal components in the horizontal and vertical directions. The n laser beams ( l 1, l 2, l 3) are spatially separated so that the pattern information is directly drawn on a plurality of drawn media. Thus, pattern information of different patterns can be drawn on the plurality of drawn media by one horizontal deflection means (7) and one vertical deflection means (13), whereby the laser scanning apparatus (A1) can be made compact in size, light in weight and small in power consumption. Also, the pattern information can be drawn with high coupling ratio (high light utilizing ratio and proper brightness) and high resolution.

Abstract: An optical recording medium using Sn as the recording material to improve the jitter is provided, in which on the surface of a disc substrate 11 where a concave and convex shape dividing a track area is formed, are formed on the surface of the concave and convex shape a first protective layer 31 for protecting at least an optical recording layer 31, an optical recording layer 12 using a chemical compound at least composed of tin (Sn), nitrogen (N) and oxygen (O), formed on the first protective layer, a second protective layer 32 for protecting this optical recording layer, formed on this optical recording layer, and a light-transmittable layer 13 formed on the second protective layer; with this structure, the optical recording layer 12 under high temperature and high humidity can be stabilized by means of the first and second protective layers 31 and 32.

Abstract: Optical data medium containing a preferably transparent substrate which is optionally already coated with one or more barrier layers and on the surface of which an information layer which can be recorded on using light, optionally one or more barrier layers, and a cover layer, have been applied, which data medium can be recorded on and read using focused blue light through the cover layer on the information layer, preferably laser light with the wavelength between 360 nm and 460 nm, the information layer containing a light-absorbing compound and optionally a binder, characterized in that at least one dye is used as the light-absorbing compound wherein the cover layer on the top of the information layer including the adhesive layer do have a total thickness of 10 mum to 177 mum and the numerical aperture NA of the focusing objective lens setup is greater or equal 0.8.
