Abstract: In an automatic telephone answering system which records and reproduces an outgoing message to be sent to a calling party and an incoming message from the calling party on a recording medium, such as magnetic tape, a single-tone test signal from a touch tone signal generator is recorded on the tape as a cue signal to indicate a position of one of the incoming and outgoing messages. The single-tone signal is also used for a variety of signals in the operation of the automatic telephone answering system, such as a beep tone, an instruction signal and an alarm signal. The reproduced cue signal which is within an audio band is discriminated from an audio signal representing the outgoing or incoming message by a phase-locked loop having a narrow capture range and a loop filter with a prolonged time constant.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the usefulness and operability of a telephone device by responding automatically to a telephone called during the absence and providing a telephone device to identify and display a caller in the form to be able to recognize easily by a user. CONSTITUTION:In a calling signal detecting circuit 19, when the prescribed number of the times of calling signals is detected, a transistor TR6 is turned on, a switch 4a is turned on accompanying it, and a calling condition is obtained. In this condition, a message signal to inform that an automatic receiving is executed from a message generating circuit 20 is sent to the caller. The caller executes the prescribed key operation is executed in accordance with the message, and only when a prescribed telephone number or an ID is inputted, the memory of a selecting signal generating circuit 13 is made into a registering mode. The data of the telephone number inputted by the caller are stored into the area read instantaneously by an one-touch dial button 32 for a prescribed return telephone. Simultaneously, by the storing data, the caller is identified at a CPU 17, a displaying signal S5 is formed and by the signal S5, an LED is caused to light up.

Ahead the reproduction or on the way of reproduction, in applying program search of the tape 10, in depressing a queue or a review button on the keyboard 2, the switch 13 is turned OFF and the switch 6 is turned ON. Thus, the noise by the queue or review is not given from the receiver of the user and the opposite party.

By this display signal S5, a prescribed one of LEDs 29a, 29b for displaying the message is lighted, the message is displayed, and also, a prescribed part of an LED 32 for discriminating the calling party is lighted.

And the device 1 detects a nonaudio period based on the presence/absence of the voice signal from the line. In this case, the message is sent to the device by applying muting while an intermittent tone is generated, and preventing the tone from being detected at the device 1. Similar operations are performed for the devices 3 and 4, and efficient transmission can be performed.
