Abstract: A method of liquefying a hydrocarbon-rich gas, wherein the gas flows through a cascade of three refrigeration stages, each stage comprising a refrigerant circuit and a compressor, wherein at least part of the flow of refrigerant from the second circuit is used for the pre-cooling of the hydrocarbon rich gas in the first refrigeration stage. This balances the load on each of the compressors. By standardizing the drive units and compressors of the three coolant circuits, it is possible to maximize the attainable liquefaction capacity of the liquefaction process using tried-and-trusted drive units and compressors respectively. This method can be applied to mixed refrigerant cascades and circuits with a carbon dioxide pre-cooling circuit. This latter option has benefits for offshore use where large amounts of hydrocarbons are undesirable.

Abstract: A process for liquefying a flow of natural gas with simultaneous recovery of a C 3 /C 4 -rich fraction is described, whereby the liquefaction of the flow of natural gas is carried out in heat exchange for at least one refrigerant and/or mixed refrigerant flow, and the flow of natural gas that is to be liquefied, after precooling, is subjected to a rectifying column, in which higher hydrocarbons are separated from the flow of natural gas, and then is subjected to further cooling and liquefaction, whereby a C 2+ -rich fraction that is recovered in the subsequent cooling of the flow of natural gas is fed to the rectifying column as a reflux liquid. According to the invention, a C 4 /C 5 -rich fraction ( 20, 35 ) is fed directly and/or indirectly to rectifying column (T 1 ) as an additional reflux liquid, whereby the feed point of the C 4 /C 5 -rich [fraction ( 20, 35 ) is located at the top of rectifying column (T 1 ) or is identical to the feed point of the C 2+ -rich fraction ( 5 ).]

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for compressing a multi-constituent flow, particularly a coolant mixture flow whereby, before compression, the multi-constituent flow is, inside a separating device, freed from liquid possibly contained in the multi-constituent flow to be compressed. According to the invention, a partial flow (5, 6, 8) of the compressed multi-component flow (3, 4) is fed at least occasionally to the separating device (D). The partial flow (5, 6, 8) fed to the separating device (D) can be diverted from the compressed multi-component flow (3, 4) before and/or after being subjected to a cooling (E) that ensues after compression (V).
