Abstract: Eyewear that includes a frame supporting an optical element. The frame has a first side and a second side. The eyewear also includes a temple adjacent the first side of the frame. The temple includes a first portion adjacent the frame and a second portion releasably connected to the first portion. The eyewear also includes an electrical connector embedded within the first portion of the temple. The second portion conceals the electrical connector from an exterior of the eyewear when the second portion connects to the first portion in a concealed state, and exposes the electrical connector from the exterior of the eyewear when disconnected from the first portion in an exposed state.

Abstract: An assembly of mechanical components includes a solder joint between two metal components. A mounted component is retained on one side of a support structure by a solder joint on the other side of the support structure between a retainer and a connector that is fast with the mounted component and extends through the support structure. The retainer is of sheet metal construction, so that a height of the solder joint is no more than the thickness of the retainer, thus providing a low-profile joint. Abstract: An antenna system includes a loop conductor and non-loop conductor configured to provide respective loop and dipole antenna functionality. A signal feed mechanism connects to both conductors at a signal feed point for simultaneous signal transceiving. The non-loop conductor comprises two elongate arms with an offset feed point creating shorter and longer arms, where the longer arm has increased width via a loop-shaped portion. When incorporated in eyewear devices, the loop-shaped portion extends circumferentially along a lens holder to retain lenses. The conductors may be configured through a diplexer for different frequency domains, with the non-loop conductor serving as a GPS antenna and the loop conductor as a data communication antenna. The radiation patterns of the conductors may be substantially orthogonal when driven by the signal feed mechanism. The system provides integrated antenna and mechanical functionality in wearable devices.

Abstract: A secondary battery pack comprises a battery and a protection circuit module (PCM), a pair of electrodes of the battery being connected to a protection circuit board (PCB) forming part of the PCM such that the electrode connections are located on a face of the PCB other than a major face that receives PCM components thereon. In some embodiments, the PCM components are mounted on one of a pair of major faces of the PCB, the electrode connections being located on the opposite one of the major faces. In other embodiments, the electrode connections are located on a peripheral edge face that extends transversely between the pair of major outer faces of the PCB. The spatial arrangement of the electrode connections and the PCM components on the PCB is such that substantially the entirety of one major outer face of the PCB is available for the placement of PCM components.

Abstract: An antenna system comprises a combination of a loop antenna and a non-loop antenna. The loop antenna and the non-loop antenna is connected in common to a transceiver mechanism or signal feed mechanism. The non-loop antenna is in some embodiments provided by a dipole conductor. An eyewear device incorporates the antenna system, a loop conductor and a dipole conductor of the antenna system being integrated in a body of the eyewear device. The loop conductor may be provided by a lens ring that extends around a lens held by the body. The lens ring may serve both as loop conductor and as a lens retention mechanism.
