Abstract:
A wireless temperature sensor for use in monitoring the temperature of a fluid or gas in a mixing vessel. The wireless temperature sensor comprises a temperature probe for contacting the fluid or gas and generating a signal based on the gas/fluid temperature; a temperature reader for receiving the signal generated by the temperature probe and determining therefrom a temperature reading of the fluid or gas; and a radio frequency (RF) transceiver for transmitting the temperature reading determined by the temperature reader to a control apparatus external to the mixing vessel.
Abstract:
A sensor detects one or more hazardous materials, such as by measuring the concentration of one or more hazardous gasses. The sensor or an external system can also determine a location of the sensor. This location can be associated with the measured data from the sensor at the external system or at the sensor. The location could be determined at the sensor using GPS or RFID. The location could be determined at the external system using RFID. The external system can use the measured data and the location information to perform a wide variety of tasks, such as mapping hazardous materials in a processing or other environment or identifying trends in the concentration of the hazardous materials.
Abstract:
A system, apparatus and method are provided for location detection using GPS or WiFi/WiMAX. The apparatus includes a global positioning system (GPS) receiver, a transceiver, and a controller. The transceiver is a WiFi or WiMAX transceiver. The controller determines whether GPS location sensing is possible and, if so, receives geographical location data from the GPS receiver. If GPS location sensing is not possible, the controller determines whether location sensing via the transceiver is possible and, if so, receives geographical location data from the transceiver. The controller sends a signal based on the location data to a location monitoring application via the transceiver. The controller may send a signal to the location monitoring application that no location sensing is possible.

Abstract:
An asset information collection device can be used during inspections of assets in a processing, production, or other system. The asset information collection device includes at least one image capture unit configured to capture images of assets, such as a video capture unit and a photo capture unit. The asset information collection device also includes a sound capture unit configured to capture audio information associated with the assets, such as oral notes made by an inspector. The asset information collection device further includes a controller configured to associate the captured images and audio information with particular ones of the assets. In addition, the asset information collection device includes at least one interface, such as a wireless transceiver, configured to wirelessly transmit the captured images and audio information and information identifying the associations to an external destination.
Abstract:
An apparatus, system and method are provided for an integrated location detection and wireless communication tracking node. The tracking node includes a housing, a wireless node located in the housing, and a tracking receiver located in the housing. The tracking receiver is coupled to the wireless node and the wireless node is operable to transmit a location signal received by the tracking receiver from a tracking device. The wireless node may include a wireless relay node that is operable to relay a radio frequency signal from a leaf node to one of a gateway and an intermediate node.
