Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base cloth for an airbag having light weight, soft texture and low air-permeability as a basic characteristic of a base cloth for airbag while keeping the necessary mechanical properties as airbag and provide an airbag produced by using the base cloth. SOLUTION: The base cloth for an airbag is made of a woven fabric of a synthetic fiber free from resin finishing and calendering treatment. The woven fabric has a cover factor of 1,800-2,150 and is composed of a synthetic fiber multifilament yarn consisting of single filaments each having a flat cross-section and an aspect ratio of 1.5-6.0. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low air-permeable air bag base fabric which is lightweight and has soft feeling while keeping mechanical properties necessary as an air bag, slightly leaks gas in air bag unfolding and maintains internal pressure of the air bag when a passenger enters the air bag after unfolding, and an air bag. SOLUTION: The air bag base fabric has a constitution that, in an air bag comprising a synthetic fiber woven fabric, the woven fabric is constituted of a synthetic fiber multifilament yarn and has 1,800-2,150 cover factor and has, in relation between fluid pressure (x) and air permeability (y) of the woven fabric, a relation between x and dy/dx represented by formula 1: 4.9≤x≤78.4, y≤90 and dy/dx≤1.4 (formula I) [(y): air permeability (cc/cm 2 /sec), (x): fluid pressure (kPa)].
