    Abstract: This invention provides a coating composition for use on a food-contact surface of a container (e.g., a food or beverage can) that includes a polymer having one or more segments of Formula T: -O-Ar-Rn-C(O)-O-R1-O-C(O)-Rn-Ar-O-, wherein each Ar is independently a divalent aryl group (i.e., an arylene group) or heteroarylene group; R1 is a divalent organic group; each R is independently a divalent organic group; and n is 0 or 1. Containers comprising the polymer and methods of making such containers are also provided.

    Abstract: The present invention provides novel packaging articles, e.g., food and beverage cans. Preferred cans typically comprise a body portion and an end portion, wherein at least one of the body and end portions are aluminum and are coated on at least one major surface with a coating composition of the present invention. Suitable coating compositions of the present invention comprise: one or more polyester resins, wherein at least one of the polyester resins has a glass transition temperature ("T g ") less than about 50°C, and wherein the polyester resin is formed by the reaction of one or more polyacid molecules and one or more polyol molecules; and a crosslinker. Preferred compositions are substantially free of mobile BPA and aromatic glycidyl ether compounds, e.g., BADGE, BFDGE and epoxy novalacs (e.g., NOGE) and more preferred compositions are also substantially free of bound BPA and aromatic glycidyl ether compounds. In more preferred embodiments (e.g., alcoholic beverage cans), the polyol molecules used to make the polyester resin are substantially free of NPG. The present invention also provides a method of making such cans.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of coating a food or beverage can, the method comprising: forming a composition comprising an emulsion polymerized latex polymer, comprising: forming a salt of an acid- or anhydride-functional polymer and an amine in a carrier comprising water to form an aqueous dispersion; combining an ethylenically unsaturated monomer component with the aqueous dispersion; and polymerizing the ethylenically unsaturated monomer component in the presence of the aqueous dispersion to form an emulsion polymerized latex polymer; and applying the composition comprising the emulsion polymerized latex polymer to a metal substrate prior to or after forming the metal substrate into a food or beverage can or portion thereof. The present invention also relates to a food or beverage can having a coating composition disposed thereon and to a composition for use as a coating of a food and beverage can.

    Abstract: La presente invencion se refiere a nuevos articulos de envasado, por ejemplo, latas para bebidas y alimentos.
