    Abstract: 1,205,185. Electrically operated lever system for actuating a sliding door. VAPOR CORP. 6 May, 1969 [12 July, 1968], No. 22961/69. Heading E2M. [Also in Division H2] A tube train door 11 is opened and closed by a door operator 10 mounted on a plate 23 within the side wall of the car adjacent the door opening 15. The operator comprises a reversible motor 24, controlled by a circuit 45, Fig. 6 (not shown), mounted with its shaft 25 substantially vertical and drivingly connected to a gear box 26; an output shaft 27 extending from the gearbox; a drive arm 28 secured to the output shaft and rotatable through about 150‹; a crescentshaped connecting link 30 pivoted at 29 to the drive arm; a multiplying lever 32 pivotally mounted on a stub shaft 31 extending from the mounting plate and having a first arm 34 pivoted at 35 to the connecting link and a second arm 36 pivoted at 40 to a connecting rod 41, which is pivoted at 42 to a bracket 43 on the door. When the door is in the closed position (corresponding position of components of operator shown in solid line) the drive arm 28 abuts against a stop 53 so positioned that the pivot 29 is over-centre w.r.t. pivots 27 and 35 thus locking the door. An emergency release handle 63 may be mounted on the plate 23 for manually driving the pivot 29 back over centre to permit the door to be manually opened (see Fig. 2). Operation of this handle opens a normally closed switch (66, Fig. 2) preventing energization of the motor during manual operation of the door. Cam means may be provided on the multiplying lever 32. to operate a switch to cushion the end of the door opening cycle and a switch to de-energize the motor at the end of the door opening cycle. The drive arm 28 operates another switch at the end of the door closing cycle to de-energize the motor.

    Abstract: Disclosed is an operator for a door mounted by frame means so as to be slidable along a track between open and closed positions. The door has a peripheral edge which is engaged to provide a positive locking of the door. The operator includes a shaft rotatably mounted alongside the door. A locking pawl is mounted to the shaft for rotation therewith so as to be movable between an unlocked position remote from a door edge and a locked position overlying the door edge so as to block the opening thereof. A lockout lever is also attached to the shaft for rotation therewith, and is movable between an idle position whereat the shaft is rotated to bring the locking pawl to its unlocked position and a lockout position whereat the shaft is rotated to bring the locking pawl to its locked position. An emergency lever is attached to the shaft for rotation therewith, and is movable between an idle position whereat the shaft is rotated to bring the locking pawl to its locked position and an open position whereat the shaft is rotated to bring the locking pawl to its unlocked position. A spring and a pneumatic actuator move the shaft back and forth in opposite directions of rotation so as to move the locking pawl between its locked and unlocked postitions.
