Abstract:
A digital communication system communicates a data between a transmitter station and a receiver station by means of a carrier wave. The transmitter station has a packet assembler 24 for assembling a data having an original format into a packet, an encoder 26 for encoding the data in the packet from an initial eight-bit form into a fourteen-bit form, and a modulator 28 for modulating a carrier wave by the encoded data so as to transmit the packet of the encoded data in the fourteen-bit form. The receiver station has a demodulator 32 receptive of the modulated carrier wave for demodulating the same to separate therefrom the packet of the encoded data, a decoder 34 for decoding the encoded data in the packet from the fourteen-bit form into the initial eight-bit form, and a packet disassembler 36 for disassembling the packet of the decoded data to restore the original format of the data having the initial eight-bit form.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a KARAOKE (orchestration without lyrics) device enabling an audience listening to a singing of a singer in a KARAOKE box, etc., to take part in evaluation of the singing. SOLUTION: The KARAOKE device 10 plays a KARAOKE music and also marks the singing by analyzing the frequency and volume of singing voice. The audience listening to the singing inputs the evaluation of the singing directly into the KARAOKE device 10 or through accessing a collection center 6 using own cellular phone 8. The KARAOKE device 10, after the play of the KARAOKE music is over, comprehensively evaluates the marks by its own marking function and the evaluation inputted by the audience to determine the final evaluation and displays it on a monitor 11. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optical device wherein power is saved by utilizing quick responsiveness of a LED. SOLUTION: A device having quick responsiveness such as a high-luminance LED is used as a backlight device 4 for radiating light to a display device 5. Though a backlight is always lit with a fixed quantity of light in a conventional display device and luminance of an image signal is merely low in the case of a dark image, the display device 1 utilizes quick responsiveness of the light source and converts an image to a bright image in the case of a dark image screen and darkens the light source in accordance with this conversion, so that an image equivalent to an image obtained by reproducing a dark image signal as it is can be displayed, whereby power saving is possible by darkening the light source. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the service life of the battery of a remote controller which is constituted to transmit the remote control signal corresponding to the operation of an input key after the input key is operated by preventing the ineffective consumption of the battery. SOLUTION: When the input key is operated for input during a period T1, a back-light is in a turned-on state. When the inputting operation ends, the back-light is turned off and the transmission of the remote control signal corresponding to the operation of the input key is performed during a period T2 after a fixed period of time Δt elapses. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device which lightens the load on disk media for karaoke and a karaoke device using the disk media and speedily starts music. SOLUTION: When an LD player 4 is connected and reproduces karaoke music, it is outputted to a speaker 6 and a monitor 8 in post-stages and the audio and video are stored on a hard disk 2. When requested music is already cached on the hard disk 2, the LD player 4 does not reproduce it and cache data are read out of the hard disk 2 and outputted to the speaker 6 and monitor 8 in post-stages. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make playing of KARAOKE sing-along music possible even when the music data stored in read-only memory means, such as a CD-ROM or DVD, is broken. SOLUTION: When the KARAOKE sing-along music is requested, a management table is retrieved and in which of the DVD 8 or a system hard disk 17 the music data of this music is stored is judged. The music data is read out of the memory means on the side stored with the music data and the playing of the KARAOKE sing-along music is executed. In case of a failure in reading out because of the breakage of the music data stored in the DVD 8 or the like, the music data is downloaded from a delivery center 9 and is kept stored into the system hard disk 17. This music data is read out in place of the broken music data of the DVD 8 and playing is executed.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reproducer of a projection type video for saving a power by using the high speed responsiveness of an LED. SOLUTION: A device with a high responsiveness such as a high luminance LED is used as a light source 5 for irradiating a display device 5 with projection rays of light. In the case of a high luminance LED, several hundreds to thousands of LED are bundled and used as a light source. In a conventional projector, the light source is always lighted with fixed light quantity, and in the case of a dark video, the luminance of a video signal only becomes dark. In this device, the high speed responsiveness of the light source is used, and in a scene where a video is dark, the video is converted into a bright video, and the light source is made to become dark according to this so that the same video as that at the time of reproducing the dark video signal as it is can be displayed, and that power saving can be attained in an amount according to the amount that the light source is made to become dark. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the harmful light generated at a boundary between a transmission section and a light shielding section formed in a cover of a DMD (digital micromirror device). SOLUTION: An approximately rectangular element surface comprised of a plurality of mirror units arrayed in a matrix is formed on the DMD, and a light shielding cover provided with the transmission section to transmit illumination light to the element surface is arranged in the central part of the front thereof. The illumination light is emitted from an illumination optical system including a rod integrator 36 and is made incident on the element surface. A mask plate 41 regulating a portion of the illumination light is arranged near an exit surface 36a of the rod integrator 36. A mask aperture 41a is formed to an approximately rhombic shape. The optical axis LA of the illumination light made incident on the DMD inclines with a normal N of the element surface. The illumination light transmitted through the mask aperture 41a is shaped in the shape of the illumination region on the element surface to approximately the rectangular shape.
