The invention relates to a device for cleaning aquarium windows (5), in particular the inside thereof, comprising an internal element (1), which can be positioned on the inside of the aquarium window (5) and has a surface (Ib) directed towards the inside of the aquarium window (5), and also comprising an external element (2), which can be positioned on the outside of the aquarium window (5) and has a surface (2b) directed towards the outside of the aquarium window (5), wherein the internal and external elements (1, 2) attract one another under the action of magnetic force, in which case movement of the external element (2) along the aquarium window (5) causes the internal element (1) to follow this movement. The device is characterized according to the invention in that at least one cleaning edge (3) is arranged on the surface (Ib) of the internal element (1), this surface being directed towards the inside of the aquarium window (5). The invention also relates to a method of cleaning aquarium windows (5), in particular the inside thereof.

An apparatus for cleaning the inner wall (32) surfaces of an aquarium tank includes a pair of magnetic assemblies (11,12) adapted for mutual magnetic engagement. Both assemblies include an outer housing (13,14) of waterproof material, and a planar surface (31,31') adapted to impinge on the aquarium walls. A scrubber pad (17) is laminated to at least one planar surface (31) of the assemblies, and a strong permanent magnet (15,16) is secured within the protective enclosure of each housing (13,14). One assembly (11) impinges its scrubber surface (17) on the inner surface of an aquarium wall (32), and the other assembly (12) is disposed directly adjacent to the inner assembly (11) and in magnetic engagement therewith. Translating movement of the outer assembly (12) causes concomitant movement of the inner assembly (11), whereby the scrubber surface (17) of the inner assembly (11) is translated across the inner surface of the aquarium wall (32) for cleaning purposes. A float (21) is secured by a line or cord (22) to the magnetic assembly (11,12) disposed within the aquarium. If the inner assembly (11) disengages from the outer assembly (12), and falls to the bottom of the aquarium, the float (21) will remain at the surface of the water in the aquarium, and the inner assembly (11) may be retrieved by grasping the float (21) and pulling the line (22) and inner assembly (11) from the water. The float (21) permits the inner assembly (11) to be retrieved without requiring any exposure of the hands or clothing to the aquarium water, and with minimal disturbance to the fish within the aquarium.

Disclosed is an aquarium cleaning system that is configured to automatically and efficiently clean an aquarium. The cleaning system can be programmed to perform aquarium cleaning on a regular basis without requiring human intervention during the cleaning process. The cleaning system is configured to move along the side walls of the aquarium and clean the side walls during such movement.

A remote surface preparation device for preparing a remote surface, such as cleaning the inside surface of an aquarium tank from the outside is provided. The device includes a remotely actuated surface preparation assembly having a body with at least one magnetic element for coupling it for remote actuation to complimentary magnetic elements in a moving drive head disposed at some distance therefrom. The device includes an adjustment mechanism which can vary the magnitude of the magnetic forces coupling the remote surface preparation assembly to the device, even during device operation.

The hand cleaning assembly(20) on the outer surface of the observation window glass pulls the inner cleaning assembly(10) to move by magnetic force. Especially, there is a waterproof buoyancy cavity(11) on the top or upside of the inner cleaning assembly(10), and the total density is greater than that of the liquid in the aquarium tank.

An actuating component (22) is placed adjacent the cleaning component on a second surface opposite from the first surface and contains an actuator (28) with complementary magnetic elements (30) to the magnetic elements of the cleaning component for attraction thereof through the first and second surface. A motor (24) drives the actuator for inducing motion of the actuator, the motion of the actuator urging complementary motion of the cleaning component through magnetic attraction of the magnetic elements and complementary magnetic elements.
