Abstract: A method of controlling a hydraulic system having a variable displacement pump operatively coupled to an engine. The method includes detecting a speed of the engine, and determining a desired power value of the pump. The method also includes identifying an allowable power value that may be expended by the pump at the detected speed. The method also includes selecting a pump power value. The selected pump power value is the lower of the allowable power value and the desired power value. The method further includes adjusting the pump to deliver the selected pump power value.

Abstract: A pump drive assembly is disclosed. The assembly includes a driver, a pump drive member driven by the driver, and a decoupler that decouples the drive member from the driver when a force acting upon the drive member exceeds a threshold force. The pump drive member can be a piston rod, and the decoupler can be a magnet attached to the piston rod and coupled to a magnetically attracted plate driven by the driver. When a force resisting movement of the piston rod exceeds the magnetic force coupling the magnet to the plate, the magnet decouples from the plate, and the pumping operation ceases.

Abstract: A linear peristaltic pump can include an anvil, a first piston and a second piston. The anvil supports a flexible conduit having a first cavity and a second cavity. The first piston pumps a fluid through the first cavity by repeatedly moving through a first sequence that includes a first cavity filling phase and a first cavity emptying phase. The second piston pumps the fluid through the second cavity by repeatedly moving through a second sequence that includes a second cavity full phase, a second cavity emptying phase that pushes the fluid into the first cavity, a second cavity empty phase that prevents the fluid from flowing into the second cavity, and a second cavity filling phase. The first piston and the second piston may compress the flexible conduit by pressing the flexible conduit against the anvil. The first sequence is a two phase sequence.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for monitoring a reciprocating member of a reciprocating piston compressor is presented. The apparatus and method provide a means for measuring parameters of the reciprocating member, such as road load or cross-head temperature and the like, and wirelessly transmitting the data to a receiver. A mobile assembly is attached to a reciprocating member of the compressor, the mobile assembly having a sensor assembly, a wireless transmitter and a power generation assembly. The sensor assembly measures a parameter of the reciprocating member and generates a representative sensor signal. The wireless transmitter wirelessly transmits a corresponding data signal to a stationary assembly mounted nearby. The power assembly powers the transmitter and sensor assembly. The measured data is used, in conjunction with other measurements, such as a crankshaft encoder, to calculate the work performed by the compressor, the power used by the compressor and other information. The compressor utilization is then optimized based on the gathered information.
