An operation control apparatus is provided of a compressor having a rotary shaft which is rotated by a driving apparatus by way of a clutch. The operation control apparatus comprises a recess or projection formed in or on one end surface of the rotary shaft as a portion-to-be-sensed offset from the axis thereof, an electromagnetic sensor disposed in facing relation with a locus described by the recess or projection according to the rotation of the rotary shaft, and a pulse monitoring circuit connected to the sensor. The sensor generates a periodic pulse signal in response to rotation of the rotary shaft. The pulse monitoring circuit generates a clutch release commanding signal to the clutch when it receives no pulse signal from the sensor for a predetermined time duration to protect the driving apparatus.
Abstract:
A rotation detecting device for a wobble plate type compressor comprises a front thrust race disposed on a flat end surface of a cam rotor and moveable therein. The front thrust race has two nail portions. A magnetic pickup is mounted on the cylindrical housing of the compressor and is positioned thereon opposite a portion of the locus of movement of the nail portions. When a nail portion passes opposite the magnetic pickup, a magnetic flux is produced. The magnetic pickup detects the magnetic flux and thus detects movement of wobble plate. Thus, the connection between the compressor and the driving source can be quickly interrupted in the event of compressor malfunction.

A rotation sensor for sensing a swash-plate type compressor being in rotational state. An electromagnetic sensor including a permanent magnet and a coil disposed in the neighborhood thereof is fixed on a housing of the compressor such that it may be opposed to a part of a rotational locus described by a specific portion of the external periphery of the swash-plate. The electromagnetic sensor generates a signal pulse everytime the specific portion passes nearby. When the swash-plate is made of a non-magnetic material some magnetic body is fixed on the external periphery of the swash-plate for constituting a portion-to-be-sensed. This magnetic body may be a ring or lump of ferrous material, a temperature sensitive ferrite, a permanent magnet, etc.

The invention relates to an axial piston compressor, in particular, a compressor for the air conditioner on a motor vehicle, comprising a housing (10) and a compressor unit driven by a driveshaft (11) for the intake and compression of a refrigerant, whereby the compressor unit comprises pistons (13) running axially back and forth in a cylinder block (12) and an eccentric disc (14) rotating with the driveshaft (11). The eccentric disc (14) is provided with an additional mass, particularly in the form of an additional disc or an additional ring (15) by means of which a deviating moment which balances out the deviation moment of the eccentric disc (14) is obtained, such that the sum (MSW) of the tipping moments (MSW1+MSW2) as a result of said deviation moments is greater than or equal to the moment (Mk,ges) due to all translationally moving masses, in particular the pistons (13) or similar.

A system and method for protecting a variable speed compressor may include an inverter drive that modulates a frequency of electric power delivered to the compressor to modulate a speed of the compressor. The inverter drive may be cooled by refrigerant and include a temperature sensor that outputs an inverter temperature signal corresponding to an inverter temperature. A control module may receives the inverter temperature signal, compare the inverter temperature with a predetermined threshold, and reduce a compressor operating speed range when the inverter temperature is greater than the predetermined threshold.

This compressor includes housing members that form a body; a drive shaft linked to a drive power source via an electromagnetic clutch; movable members moving in cooperation with the drive shaft and carrying out the compression of a fluid; a detected body moving in cooperation with the drive shaft; a drain bolt screwed into a drain bolt hole provided in a housing member in proximity to the detected body; and a detecting device detecting the rotation state of the drive shaft by the detected body. The drain bolt is provided with a permanent magnet, the detecting device is structured by a magnetic sensor that includes a magnetic impedance element, and the magnetic sensor is provided at the head portion of the drain bolt. Thereby, it is possible to provide a rotation detecting mechanism by using an existing drain bolt, without requiring the machining of a hole in the compressor body.

A compressor including a rotation detecting device for detecting the rotation of the compressor to stop the compressor in an emergency. The rotation detecting device comprises a fastening bolt fastening the casing sections together, a rotatable member supported by a drive shaft, and a magnetic sensor arranged outside the casing around the head of the fastening bolt. A magnetic flux is guided from a magnetic clutch to the rotatable member or provided by permanent magnets on the rotatable member. The rotatable member has a notch or a projection for producing periodically changing a magnetic flux which passes through the fastening bolt and is detected by the magnetic sensor.

A rotation detecting device for a wobble plate type compressor comprises a rear thrust race (23) disposed on the rear surface of the wobble plate (8) and moveable therewith. The rear thrust race has two nail portions (231, 232) and a projecting portion (233). A magnetic pickup (24) is mounted on the cylindrical housing (2) of the compressor and is positioned thereon opposite a locus of movement of projecting portion (233). Magnetic flux leaking from an electromagnetic clutch mounted on the compressor flows to rear thrust race (23) through a drive shaft (17) and bevel gear (14). When projecting portion (233) passes opposite magnetic pickup (24), a magnetic flux is produced. Magnetic pickup (24) detects the magnetic flux and thus detects movement of wobble plate (8). Thus the connection between the compressor and the driving source can be quickly interrupted in the event of compressor malfunction.
