A system for multifunctional remote control is disclosed. The system comprises a remote control (100) for connecting mechanically and electrically with a cartridge (200), reading data stored in the cartridge through the first connection unit (110), storing the read data, and setting the registration of use; and a cartridge (200) for mechanically and electronically connecting with the remote control (100), receiving data from a user computer (10), storing the received data, and transmitting/receiving infrared signal to/from a controlled product.
Abstract:
An apparatus system and method for remotely activating appliances. A monitor system (10) allows a user to input instructions into the monitor system by pushbutton activation or voice command. The monitor system transmits the instructions in the form of a command to a device system (20). The device system has a switch device (25) which is connected to an electrical device (the remote appliance 35) either internally or externally. The switch device activates the electrical device according to the instructions received from the monitor system. The device system then transmits a signal back to the monitor system to let the user know if the electrical device was activated or not.

One aspect of the invention relates to a telemetry module (1) which is configured as a terminal that is capable of bi-directional communication, for a communications network (3). The module comprises at least one electrical signal input device (25, 27) for coupling with a signal-generating component; and at least one electrical control output device (23) for coupling with a component to be controlled. The module also comprises a memory arrangement (19) which can preferably be programmed by a user of the telemetry module (1) and in which the following can be stored: a message identifier, in association with a predetermined change of electrical status of the signal input device (25, 27), respectively; and a control identifier, in association with a predetermined change of electrical status of the control output device, respectively. The inventive module also comprises an electronic control unit (11), which is connected to the signal input device (25, 27) and the control output device (23) and which is designed to effect the sending of a message containing the corresponding message identifier, respectively, especially in the form of an SMS short message, to a predetermined recipient (5, 7), via the communications network (3) in dependence on a change in the electrical status of the signal input device (25, 27); and which is also designed to compare a message, especially an SMS short message, with each stored control identifier when such a message is received via the communications network (3), and if the two match, to effect the change of electrical status of the control output device (23) associated with the respective matching control identifier. The message and control identifiers are preferably stored on a SIM card.

Actuating a security system includes providing a first set of access codes to a wireless device and causing the wireless device to transmit the first set of access codes to a first controller that actuates the security system. The first set of access codes provided to the wireless device may expire. Actuating a security system may also include providing expiration dates for each of the first set of access codes provided to the wireless device. Actuating a security system may also include examining each of the expiration dates and, in response to a particular expiration date being prior to a current date, erasing from the wireless device a particular one of the first set of access codes that corresponds to the particular expiration date.

A control unit (1) consisting of a touch-sensitive keypad (2), a display (8) and an operating system. Said unit (1) has a slot for a smart card (3) used to activate the unit (1). The keypad (2) comprises a number of touch-sensitive keys (13) made of transparent material so that the underlying inserted smart card (3) is visible. The back surface of the smart card (3) contacting the keypad (2) includes a set of customised indicia (14) each corresponding to one touch-sensitive key (13) on the keypad (2), and each of the smart card indicia (14) that can be seen through the transparent keys (13) of the keypad (2) represents the function assigned to the corresponding key (13) by the smart card (3) so that the unit (1) can be used in a variety of settings. Said unit is useful for remotely controlling electrical equipment and/or providing information to users.
