Abstract:
A spam fax filter (120) which has been configured in accordance with the present invention can include a fax transformation processor (180) configured to transform rasterized fax images into non-rasterized representations of fax images. The spam fax filter further can include a knowledge base (150) of known spam characteristics. Finally, the spam fax filter can include a comparator (140) configured to compare non-rasterized representations of fax images produced by the fax transformation processor to the characteristics in the knowledge base to detect spam fax in the spam fax filter.

Abstract:
Provided are a fax data transmission controller, a fax server, a fax system, and a method of providing the fax system. The fax data transmission controller can store fax data received via a public switched telephone network (PSTN), and transmit the stored fax data to a fax server, to a facsimile, or to a user computer. The fax server can filter fax data that is received or to be transmitted, and perform authentication on the content of the fax data.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are described for transparently processing a fax transmission by a fax software program in a mobile device. In one embodiment, the fax software program identifies an incoming call at the mobile device. Upon the identification, the program prevents a display screen of the mobile device from outputting an incoming call ringing alert. The program answers the incoming call and analyzes the call to detect whether the answered call is a voice call. Upon detecting that the answered incoming call is a voice call, the program outputs the incoming call ringing alert via the display screen. Otherwise, if the answered incoming call is a fax transmission, the program merges the call with a fax server, such that the fax server receives the fax transmission. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.
Abstract:
A communication apparatus that enables to appropriately perform IP filtering even when communication via a network is performed by a user inputting a destination phone number. An IP filter permits or rejects communication on the basis of a set IP address. An input unit inputs a phone number. An acquisition unit acquires an IP address corresponding to the phone number inputted by the input unit from a server connected to the network. A setting unit sets the IP filter so that communication using the IP address acquired by the acquisition unit is permitted.
Abstract:
A communication terminal device and a facsimile device, and a method of controlling the communication terminal device and the facsimile device. The invention provides the communication terminal device capable of concentratedly controlling the information relating to the receipt rejection. The invention is featured in that the above devices are provided with a receipt-rejected communication control medium for collecting the communication control information in connection with the communication relating to the signal arrival from the communication partner not registered in the receipt-allowed communication partner registering table, and storing the collected communication control information in the receipt-rejected communication control information storing medium; a communication control list creating medium for creating the list image information based on the communication control information stored in the above-mentioned receipt-rejected communication control information storing medium; and a list outputting medium for visibly outputting the list image information created by the communication control list creating medium.
Abstract:
A presence of a facsimile transmission tone generated by a calling party within a call is sensed for within a public telephone network before the call has been routed to a called party. If the facsimile transmission tone is present in the call, the telephone network denies completion of the call to the telephone line of the called party. If the call is absent the facsimile transmission tone, a telephone network switch is instructed to complete the call to the telephone line of the called party.
Abstract:
A communication apparatus includes a main unit and a communication control unit. The communication control unit informs the main unit of an incoming call. The main unit makes a judgement on whether the incoming call should be accepted. In accordance with this judgement, the main unit instructs the communication control unit to respond to the incoming call. The communication control unit responds to the incoming call in accordance with the judgement by the main unit. In accordance with the state of a memory for storing received signals or with the called party number, the main unit makes a judgement on whether the incoming call should be rejected or ignored.
Abstract:
A system and method for controlling facsimile communications is disclosed. A facsimile machine contains a plurality of display screens containing step-by step instructions allowing a user to use complex facsimile functions. The facsimile machine contains a phonebook containing information, including facsimile telephone numbers, for a plurality of remote facsimile machines. The facsimile machine can detect the facsimile telephone number and name of a remote facsimile machine sending an incoming facsimile message and store the information about the remote facsimile machine in the phonebook. The facsimile machine can be configured to ignore incoming facsimile messages from remote facsimile machine not listed in the phonebook. Similarly, the facsimile machine can be configured to permit outgoing facsimile messages to be transmitted only to remote facsimile machines listed in the phonebook. The user can display the phonebook on a display and select information associated with a remote facsimile machine, and the facsimile machine will determine the facsimile telephone number from the selected information using the phonebook. The user can also group a set a remote facsimile machine together so that an outgoing facsimile message can be specified as going to any one of the remote facsimile machines in the group, and the facsimile machine will send the outgoing facsimile message to all members of the group.
