Abstract:
In an image sensor including a light emitting element for emitting a light beam to be incident on a document, a light receiving element for receiving the light beam reflected by the document, and a lens array for directing the reflected light beam from the document to the light receiving element, there is located a mirror between the lens array and the light receiving element for changing the direction of the light beam passing through the lens array. The light emitting element and the light receiving element are located on the same substrate. With this arrangement, a compact and inexpensive image sensor can be achieved. This compact image sensor causes an increased amount of light to be incident on the document.
Abstract:
A document scanning apparatus for scanning a document is provided. The document scanning apparatus includes an image sensor unit which irradiates an incident light towards the document and generates image data by sensing a reflected light reflected from the document, a supporting unit which supports the image sensor unit, a movement unit which moves the image sensor unit between a scanning position and a calibration position, a housing which houses the image sensor unit, the supporting unit, and the movement unit, a transparent plate which transmits the incident light and the reflected light, a calibration sheet which is attached to a surface of the transparent plate, which is exposed to outside and is positioned in an area including the calibration position, and a housing cover which is coupled to the housing and seals inside of the housing.
Abstract:
The invention includes a method and system for improving the output quality of an image forming device. The method includes comparing an amount of speckle present in the images with a predefined amount of speckle. Thereafter, it is evaluated whether an adjustment of an angle of inclination of an image capture assembly in the image forming device is required for improving the output quality of the images. Accordingly, the height of one or more spacers of a spacer assembly may be altered for inclining the image capture assembly with respect to a transparent surface on which an object to be scanned by the image forming device is placed. The height of the spacer assembly may be adjustable by a user or pre-set to an optimum level for reducing the speckle to a value less than or equal to the predefined amount of speckle.
Abstract:
A light source for a contact image sensor, including an electroluminescent screen fastened to the scanning face glass of a contact image sensor at the back either by bonding or printing and having a narrow gap through which reflected light from document passes to the lens of the contact image sensor.
Abstract:
A contact type image sensor, which includes a transparent member which can contact an original to be read, a light source for radiating light onto the original via the transparent member, a sensor for receiving light reflected by the original, an imaging element for imaging the reflected light on a light-receiving portion of the sensor, and a support unit for supporting the sensor, the imaging element, the transparent member, and the light source. The imaging element and the light source are supported by the transparent member and the support unit.

Abstract:
A contact type image sensor comprises: a light source 3 to emit a light with a predetermined inclination angle for the direction of the normal line of the surface of an original at the position of a read line 9 in order to irradiate the light from both sides to the read line by one light source; an original supporting member 6 to support the original in order to lead the light from the light source 3 to the read line 9; and a photoelectric converting device section 5 to receive the light from the original surface. At least a part of the original supporting member 6 locating on the side opposite to the arrangement side of the light source 3 with respect to the read line 9 has a reflecting surface for reflecting a part of the light from the light source 3 and leading to the read line 9.
