A fax machine includes a setting recorder, a communication device, a remainder calculator, a determination device, and a controller. The setting recorder holds setting information on a fax transmission job. The communication device performs the transmission job based on the held setting information. The remainder calculator calculates the number of sheets which can be faxed further for the transmission job by the fax machine. When the transmission job stops, the determination device determines, based on the calculated number of sheets, whether the job is completed. If the determination device determines, when the transmission job stops, that the transmission job is completed, the controller clears the setting recorder. If the determination device determines, when the transmission job stops, that the transmission job is not completed, the controller does not clear the setting recorder.
Abstract:
A document scanning device reads an image on a document while scanning the image, and generates image data based on the image. The document scanning device selects and sets a scanning speed in accordance with a transfer mode used when the document scanning device transfers the image data to another apparatus. The document scanning device controls the amount of generated image data by using the set scanning speed to successively read the image, whereby optimal transfer processing in accordance with the transfer mode can be performed. By switching a transfer path in accordance with the type of the read data, i.e., binary data per pixel or multilevel data per pixel, efficient data transfer can be performed.

A communication apparatus preventing output of wasteful error reports is provided. To this end, first, the communication apparatus comprises a display means displaying an error report regarding a communication error and a print means printing an error report regarding a communication error. The communication apparatus further comprises a control means allowing the display means to display an error report regarding a communication error in the case the occurrence of the communication error is detected while the user is authenticated by an authentication means. The control means allows the print means to print an error report regarding a communication error where the occurrence of a communication error is detected and when the user is not authenticated by the authentication means.

The present invention relates to an image formation device, a display screen switching method, and a program. Excellent operability with user friendliness is realized by appropriately controlling switching of a display screen without increasing a burden on an operating system. In order to accomplish this, an image formation device 1 for example includes: a panel manager 33 for controlling switching of a display screen to be displayed on a display unit 5; a system controller 32 for controlling a hardware section; and an application section 39 for executing a specific function by putting the hardware section into operation through the system controller 32, and for creating a display screen relating to the specific function. When the system controller 32 detects the occurrence of an event with the display screen created in the application section 39 being displayed on the display unit 5, the panel manager 33 requests the application section 39 to determine whether or not switching of a display screen should be made, and controls switching of a display screen to be displayed on the display unit 5 based on a result of the determination made by the application section 39.

When the volume of data received by a gateway from the PSTN side and buffered arrives at the threshold, the data buffered are packaged and sent, and at the same time the buffer area is cleared. And then, data from the PSTN side are received unceasingly and the volume of data received and buffered is compared with the threshold. When a frame ending signal is received by the gateway, if there is some data buffered in the buffer area, the data in the buffer area are all packaged and sent, and the frame ending signal is also packaged and sent, regardless of whether the volume of data in the buffer area reaches the threshold, and if there is no data buffered in the buffer area, the frame ending signal is packaged and sent directly. By restricting the maximum volume of data carried by a data package and therefore restricting delay caused by packaging the buffered data by the upward gateway, it is guaranteed that the V.21 frame signal data could timely and accurately arrive at a facsimile apparatus of the receiving side during transmission.

The present invention discloses a system and a method for transmitting facsimile data over a network and an apparatus and a method for packing data so that cached data is packed and transmitted and the buffer is dumped when the amount of data received and cached by a gateway from a Public Switch Telephone Network (PSTN) reaches a threshold value. Then, the gateway continues receiving data from the PSTN and comparing the cached amount of data with the threshold. When the gateway detects a frame end signal, if there is already data cached in the buffer area, the gateway packs and transmits all data in the buffer and packs and transmits the frame end signal no matter whether the amount of data in the buffer has reached the threshold value; if there is no data cached in buffer area, the gateway directly packs and transmits the frame end signal. As the maximum amount of data that a data package can carry is limited, the delay due to packing and caching data by the uplink gateway is limited. This assures that V.21 frame signal data is transmitted to the correct receiving fax machine in time.
