Abstract:
The present invention refers to a method to increase the adherence between a relatively glossy surface, e.g. a steel surface and a substance which can be applied on or around said surface which is pourable and solidifies to a rigid form. The object of the invention is to provide a simple and a relatively cheap method to increase the adherence without that the glossy surface being exposed to deformations or weakenings, and which adherence should be accomplished on even surfaces as well as on single or double curved surfaces and also in recesses which are difficult to access. These objects have been solved by that a glossy surface which is provided with a glue layer or the like is coated in an electrostatic way, alternatively is coated with artificial fibres so-called fibre flocks, which are raised from the surface, covering an essential part of its surface, whereby the green concrete is applied against the fibre flock.

The invention relates to a method of providing a flat and smooth layer of polymeric material on a substrate. The prepolymeric material employed in the method according to the invention, when melted, has a viscosity enabling it to flow into all crevices and voids on the surface of said substrate. The method includes the steps of applying a uniform coating of the prepolymer material on said substrate and heating the substrate to melt said prepolymer, whereby said prepolymeric flows on the surface of said substrate to provide a layer of said prepolymeric material having a flat top surface. Subsequent heating cures the prepolymer to form a flat and smooth layer of polymeric material.

Bei einem Folienlaminat aus einer thermoplastischen Kunststoffolie und einer Schicht aus einem filmbildenden Polymeren und Metallteilchen wird ein metallfarbiges Aussehen des Laminates von hoher Brillanz dann erreicht, wenn die Metallteilchen die Form von Plättchen mit einer Dicke von etwa 1 µm und einer Ausdehnung von etwa 10 bis 50 µm besitzen, die Plättchen im wesentlichen parallel zur Oberfläche der Kunststoffolie liegen und die Schicht auf der Trägerfolie eine Dicke mit einem Flächengewicht von 1 bis 20 Gramm pro Quadratmeter hat, wobei die Gewichtsmenge an Metallteilchen in der Schicht, bezogen auf die Gewichtsmenge an filmbildenden Polymeren, 30 bis 90 Gew.-% beträgt.

A method of forming a thin film having a smooth surface and a uniform film thickness such as an antistatic or antireflection film on the outer surface of a display screen (12) of a cathode ray tube (11), includes the steps of applying a film formation material solution containing a volatile solvent on the outer surface of the display screen (12) of the cathode ray tube (11) to form a solution film, rotating the cathode ray tube (11) about a tube axis thereof to obtain an uniform film thickness of the solution film, and causing a portion of the solution film applied in and near the center of the outer surface of the display screen (12) to dry while the cathode ray tube (11) is being rotated.

A new corrosion, sound, and vibration-proofing method for metal structures comprises masking the necessary parts of the surface of said metal structures with masking members consisting of a plastic foam, coating a visco-elastic layer on the surface of said metal structures, and said masking members are of panel types for the even surfaces of said metal structures, block types with a slit for the extending parts of said metal structures, tube types with a hole for the protruding parts of said metal structures, and plug types forthe holes in said metal structures.

Plated high strength steel articles having a metallic plated coating exhibit high corrosion resistance and low hydrogen reembrittlement characteristics when an acrylic polymeric coating, such as a methyl methacrylate polymer is applied to the article. A corrosion inhibitor and adhesion promoter such as benzotriazole and a leveling agent such as an alkyd polymer can be incorporated with the acrylic polymer in minor proportions to further enhance the corrosion resistance characteristics of the coating. A benzotriazole-containing acrylic polymer formulation also enhances the corrosion resistance characteristics of an unplated metal substrate.

A method and apparatus are disclosed for applying a light coating of fluid to the outer surface of a circumferential strip of one end of a cylindrically shaped article. The article is stablized against angular axial movement while being advanced and rotated, in a planer path, through a treating zone. An airborne mist containing fine particles of the fluid is produced. This mist is transported to the treating zone and directed to impinge upon said circumferential strip. The impinged fluid mist is then leveled to achieve a uniform coating.
