Abstract:
Abstract:
In a magnetic recording medium wherein a light beam is projected onto a data track (14) between optical grooves (12) for tracking a magnetic head and the magnetic head is tracked according to the reflection beam produced by the projection, the tracking servo is properly performed by reducing the fluctuation of the reflection factor in the frequency region from 100 Hz to 2 kHz under 4 dB, and by presetting the thickness of a magnetic layer (10a) on the data track (14) or the depth of the grooves (23) within a specified range. The reliability of the magnetic recording medium is improved.

Abstract:
A magnetic recording medium with excellent electromagnetic characteristics, durability and mobility. The magnetic recording medium is produced by coating magnetic paint prepared by kneading magnetic powder with crosslinking or polymerizable resin binder together with phosphoric ester having polymerizable unsaturated double bond on a base and crosslinking or polymerizing the paint. Since the phosphoric ester is added as compared with the conventional dispersant, it improves the mechanical characteristics of the magnetic paint film and also improves the durability and the mobility of the magnetic recording medium.

Abstract:
@ A magnetic recording medium suitable for use in a single-pole type recording system utilizing a perpendicular magnetization mode, the medium including a nonmagnetic base, a low coercive force layer on the base, and a magnetic recording layer overlying the low coercive force layer. The magnetic recording layer has an easy axis of magnetization perpendicular to the nonmagnetic base. The nonmagnetic bass is composed of a material which is stable at a temperature of 220°C and higher. In accordance with the invention, the low coercive force layer is an iron-nickel alloy containing about 82 to 89.5 by weight nickel, the low coercive force layer resulting from vapor phase deposition of the alloy on the nonmagnetic base while the temperature of the base is at least 220°C.
