Abstract:
An air cleaning apparatus includes ion generation electrode, a collecting electrode, and a support portion. The ion generation electrode is configured to apply a high-voltage to thereby form a high-voltage electric field between the collecting electrode and the ion generation electrode. A passage is formed between the ion generation electrode and the collecting electrode along the high-voltage electric field direction. The support portion is configured to provide electrical isolation and mechanical support for the ion generation electrode and the collecting electrode. A surface of the support portion between the ion generation electrode and the collecting electrode comprises a surface coating layer configured to resist ion bombardment and the accidental arcing. A transformer frequency adjusting system includes a frequency storage cell, a control module, and a drive module, and can work with the air cleaning apparatus, alone, or with other apparatuses.
Abstract:
An improved collector electrode for an electrostatic precipitation air filter including a voltage source, an ion emitter, insulated drive electrodes, and attraction electrodes. The insulated drive electrodes include a multi-part structure having an electrically conductive material located between non-electrically conductive portions. The insulated drive electrodes allow an increased voltage potential between the attraction electrodes and the drive electrodes.
Abstract:
A filtration system includes a frame directing a fluid flow through the filtration system. An ionization array is located in the frame and has an ionizer current flowing therethrough. The system further includes a media filter having a plurality of media fibers arranged to capture particles flowing therethrough and a conductive surface located at the media filter and having a filter current flowing therethrough. A comparator is utilized to determine a difference between the ionizer current and the filter current, and compare that difference to a predetermined range.
Abstract:
An apparatus or device for collecting aerosol particles from a gas stream, having a collector body enclosing a collector channel, a particle trap in the collector channel, and an injection duct for injecting a discrete microdroplet of an elution reagent. The particle trap may be a centrifugal impactor, a bluff body impactor, or an electrostatic impactor. Aerosol particles are deposited on the surface during collection and are subsequently eluted with a microdroplet or a series of microdroplets as a concentrated liquid sample so that the sample can be analyzed in situ or conveyed to a detector for analysis. The collector serves as an aerosol-to-liquid conversion module as part of an apparatus for detecting and analyzing aerosol particles, and may be used in an integrated environmental threat assessment system, for example for characterization of aerosolized chemical and biological weapons, or for industrial or environmental monitoring.
Abstract:
A method of modifying the airflow to the inlet of an axial fan comprises operating an axial fan to move air longitudinally through an air inlet opening of the axial fan, and, during operation of the axial fan, applying an electrical potential between an emitter and a collector to cause ionic air movement radially outwardly away from a central axis of the axial fan, wherein the radially outward air movement is caused upstream of the axial fan before the air reaches the air inlet opening.
Abstract:
A system for enhancing air quality within a poultry production facility that includes an enclosure, at least one ground plane, at least one corona point and a corona point position adjustment mechanism. The enclosure is adapted to receive a plurality of poultry. The at least one ground plane is mounted with respect to the enclosure. The corona point position adjustment mechanism enables a distance between the at least one corona point and the at least one ground plane to be adjusted.
Abstract:
By selecting different materials for each layer, a multi-layered electrode structure can be made with superior performance characteristics. For example, a multilayered electrode can include a high tensile strength tungsten core, a conductive intermediate palladium, palladium-nickel, or other platinum group metal layer for generating a corona discharge, and a hardened layer comprising rhodium or other platinum group metal or alloy of the same to resist frictional abrasion during removal of silica dendrites that accumulate on the electrode surface during operation.
Abstract:
A system includes a resonant frequency modeler for determining a resonant frequency of a node on a collecting plate that collects particles from a gas flow; and a wave generating device that applies a wave having an applied frequency substantially equal to the resonant frequency to the node of the collecting plate to remove particles from the collecting plate. An electrostatic precipitator (ESP) including the system and related method are also provided.
Abstract:
An electrostatic filter for the separation of dust particles has collecting electrodes fixed in a housing through which the gas flows and discharge electrodes arranged parallel to them and held stretched between insulators. For the cleaning of the collecting electrodes, a cleaning equipment is fixed to a cable having the discharge electrodes, which can be moved along the surface of the collecting electrodes to be cleaned by using a pulling device having a coiling drum.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a filtration system and method that uses a corona discharge grid and a series of electrostatic grids to filter ambient particles. The filtration system eliminates, or greatly reduces, the pressure drop across the associated filter media.
