Abstract: 構造上密閉領域が存在するなどの理由で疲労強度向上対策ができない場合において、疲労強度を向上させることが可能な溶接継手の製造方法を提供する。 内側溶接止端部またはルート部を、変態開始温度が１７５℃〜４００℃の範囲である溶接金属を用いて形成する溶接を施す第１の溶接工程と、さらに、第１の溶接工程で形成した内側溶接止端部またはルート部をなす溶接金属の少なくとも一部が未溶融部となり、かつ、該未溶融部が全てオーステナイトに再変態するまで加熱される溶接入熱で、溶接金属を１パスで盛り上げる溶接を施すことにより、内側溶接止端部またはルート部に圧縮残留応力を導入する第２の溶接工程とを備える。

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a welding apparatus and a method for beam-welding a first component to a second component at hidden discrete contact locations. SOLUTION: The welding apparatus and the welding method are used for welding a first panel 24 to a second panel 22. The first panel 24 has an inboard side 34 partially contacting the second panel 22 and an opposite outboard side 36. The welding apparatus has means for generating a welding beam. The welding apparatus has means for reducing a pressure along the inboard side 34 of the first panel 24 relative to an adjacent pressure along the outboard side 36 so as to produce inward deflection of the first panel 24 along a first portion 40 of the first panel 24 not contacting the second panel 22 relative to a second portion 42.
