Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect defective connection without increasing the number of connector terminal in the case of connecting a reading module to a controller for controlling the reading module via the connector.
SOLUTION: In the connector of the reading module, a power supply terminal part for lighting a light source and an image signal output terminal are arranged in the vicinity of one end and in the vicinity of the other end in an arranging direction of a plurality of terminals. Then, in this poor connection detector, the reading module is transferred to a position to which a white board to be used for acquisition of a reference signal in S03, the white board is irradiated with lighton in S04, data of an image signal at a black level to be outputted from the image signal output terminal part is acquired in S04, data W1 of an image signal at a white level is acquired in S05 and the poor connection is detected by comparing the W1 with a prescribed value X in S06. After detection, the poor connection contents are displayed in S07.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of satisfactorily executing image formation and image reading.SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus, an upper part of a frame body 100 is provided with support members 111 and 112. The support member 111 is made from a metal plate which easily deforms elastically in response to stress from the outside. The support member 111 is fixed between the upper part of the frame body 100 and a bottom of a scanner section 3 of an image reading section 5. The support member 112 is fixed on the upper part of the frame body 100. Further, the support member 112 receives and catches the bottom of the scanner section 3 which is supported in a cantilever form by using the support member 111. Accordingly, when vibration is caused by the image reading section, the support member 111 deflects and the vibration caused by the image reading section is absorbed by the support member 111.

Abstract: The improved image recording apparatus comprises a main scanning section; an auxiliary scanning section; and an upstream transport section; wherein a light-sensitive material, as it is transported in an auxiliary scanning direction after its position in a main scanning direction was regulated by the upstream transport section, is illuminated with recording light beams, whereby the light-sensitive material is scanned two-dimensionally with the recording light beams to record an image on the light-sensitive material. The apparatus further includes vibration damping members by which the main scanning section, the auxiliary scanning section and the upstream transport section are coupled to other components of the image recording apparatus in such a way as to insulate vibrations. During image recording on sheets of light-sensitive material with light beams, any adverse effects of internal and external vibrations are sufficiently prevented, insulated or damped to prevent the occurrence of offsets in the position of the light-sensitive material, unevenness in its transport in the auxiliary scanning direction and other problems that would otherwise cause unevenness in image.

Abstract: A laser beam reflected off a polygon mirror travels below a beam portion and is reflected off a reflection mirror. The laser beam reflected off the reflection mirror is emitted through an opening formed directly below the beam portion. The beam portion is provided above the opening through leg portions. With the structure, the rigidity on the periphery of the opening can be ensured. Supporting portions for supporting the reflection mirror are reinforced by reinforcing portions, so that the reflection mirror is prevented from being vibrated. In addition, the reflection mirror is supported such that the reflection mirror does not contact the beam portion. Even when the beam portion is vibrated, the vibration is not conveyed from the beam portion to the reflection mirror.

Abstract: A first reading sensor reads a first surface of a document. A second reading sensor reads a second surface of the document. An elastic body presses the second reading sensor toward the document that is conveyed toward an other side in a first direction. A conveyance guide includes a protrusion accommodating the elastic body. A friction pad contacts, from below, the document supported by a document placement surface. A recess is recessed downward from the document placement surface. A feed roller at a lowermost position enters the recess. An opening is formed in the document placement surface. The opening allows an exposed surface of the protrusion to be exposed to a side to which the document placement surface faces. The friction pad, the recess, and the opening are arranged away from one another in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction and an upper-lower direction.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for damping unwanted vibrations or ringing of a lens in an imaging device. For example, one method includes determining a target distance to move a lens, and dividing the target distance into multiple steps having at least a first step and a subsequent step, moving the lens, via an actuator, by the first step, thereby causing a first vibration, retrieving a damping parameter indicative of a time delay, the damping parameter being based on at least one characteristic of the actuator and the number of steps, and repeating said moving the lens at least one subsequent step after delaying the subsequent step by one of the damping parameters, each moving the lens a subsequent step causing a subsequent vibration, and the damping parameters affecting the vibration such that the first and subsequent vibrations at least in part modify each other to lower overall vibration.
