Abstract:
The present invention is directed to aqueous dispersion compositions in the form of aqueous, spreadable coating or printing pastes, characterized in that they contain(A) aqueous dispersions of polyurethanes (Aa) or mixtures of polyurethanes (Aa) and aqueous dispersions of poly(meth)acrylates (Ab),(B) carboxyl group-containing, aqueous thickener polymer solutions,(C) self-crosslinking polyorganosiloxane mixture and(D) crosslinking agents for the polyurethanes, for the carboxyl group-containing thickener polymers (B) and, optionally, for the poly(meth)acrylates. The present invention is also directed to a process for the preparation of these aqueous dispersion compositions and to their use for coating or printing substrates.
Abstract:
A composition suitable for forming surface coatings, laminates or composite materials formed by bringing together:(a) a first polymer containing carboxylic acid, anhydride or acid chloride groups,(b) an amine or alcohol or a derivative thereof which is a tertiary amine, a ketimine, an acetal or an oxazolidine and(c) a second polymer capable of cross-linking with the first polymer in the presence of the amine or alcohol. The components may be initially in two packs and either mixed prior to application or sprayed onto the surface simultaneously from separate nozzles. The surface coatings are particularly suitable for coating surfaces which are otherwise difficult to coat and protect and may be applied to wet or rusted surfaces without surface preparation.
Abstract:
A resinous composition for coating use comprising a resin having a resinous acid value derived from polycarboxylic acid whose titration midpoint potential in non-aqueous potentiometric titration is more than -300 mV under the state capable of developing resinous acid value of 2 to 50 and having a functional group reactive with a crosslinking agent, and preparation thereof. The composition is useful for the preparation of coating composition having improved curing property.
Abstract:
A coating of a film-forming material is applied without electricity to a metal by immersing the metal in an aqueous dispersion which contains a film-forming material cationically dispersed in a cationic dispersion which contains a carboxylic acid radical capable of reacting with metal ions obtained by etching the metal to form a negatively charged complex in the dispersion.
Abstract:
A water reducible resin composition, a water reducible admixture of such resin with solvents and plasticizers, a water reduced form of such mixture suitable for a coating, and a coating prepared from such water reduced mixture. Said resin is required to be prepared from a balance of hydrophobic enhancing and hydrophilic enhancing monomers. Generally such hydrophobic enhancing monomers are required to be a balance of monomers promoting hard and soft segments of the resin.
Abstract:
In an aqueous coating composition comprising an aqueous medium having dispersed therein an unsaturated polycarboxylic acid resin neutralized with a base and a resol-type phenolic resin, an improvement characterized in that said composition further contains a copper compound dispersed in the aqueous medium in an amount of 0.0005 to 5% by weight in terms of copper metal, based on said polycarboxylic acid resin.

An electromagnetic steel sheet coated with an insulating film with excellent hardness and suitable for use as a material for iron cores of large-sized electric-power generators; and a process for producing the electromagnetic steel sheet coated with an insulating film. The purpose is achieved with a coating material for forming insulating films, the coating material including a solvent and components (A) to (C) contained therein in the respective amounts on a solid basis. (A) A water-compatible carboxylated resin; 100 parts by mass. (B) An aluminum-containing oxide; more than 40 parts by mass but less than 300 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the component (A). (C) At least one crosslinking agent selected from the group containing of melamine, isocyanates, and oxazoline; 100 parts by mass or more but less than 300 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the component (A).
