Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To offer a new composition which is able to process without using fatty acid or its salt when manufacturing golf ball with its core and cover layer using a composition containing highly neutralized acid polymer (HNP). SOLUTION: The present invention is directed to a golf ball having at least one layer which includes a polymer composition containing at least 50 wt.% of an acid polymer and at least 0.5 wt.% of a polyhydric alcohol, wherein the weight percentages are based on the total polymeric weight of the polymer composition. At least 70% of the acid groups of the acid polymer are neutralized by a cation source or a metal salt thereof. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and computer program for predicting a golf ball trajectory and ball launch conditions without requiring a golfer to strike a ball. SOLUTION: A method and computer program for predicting a golfer's ball striking performance is disclosed. In order to generate a predicted trajectory and predicted ball launch condition, it is desirable to determine several properties of the golf equipment and a player's swing. For instance, pre-impact swing conditions of a golfer are observed using a monitoring system. Additionally it is desirable to determine the properties of the golf ball and the golf club. Moreover, the effect of the shaft properties and the slippage between the golf club and the golf ball may also be considered. In this manner, a more accurate determination of a golfer's predicted trajectory and ball launch conditions may be determined without requiring the golfer to actually strike a golf ball. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hollow golf club head of a utility iron type having the optimum MOI (moment of inertia) of the club head. SOLUTION: A hosel sleeve weight 16 manufactured of a tungsten material is arranged at the upper section of a hosel 14, and a toe plug 18 of tungsten is arranged at a lower toe portion 19 of a club head 10 for this hollow golf club. By this combination, the moments of inertia around the x, y and z axes of the club head 10 are increased. A composite core 20 is formed in the cavity of the club head by a bladder molding, and supports a comparatively thin front face. The composite core 20 can be seen from the back surface of the club head. The composite core 20 has a smaller density compared with the front face, and the flexibility is large. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a dimple pattern and to optimize dimple disposition and distribution on a golf ball by using an electromagnetic field theory. SOLUTION: In this golf ball having a plurality of dimples on the surface thereof, the whole dimples are distributed at least on a part of the golf ball based upon a Soddy circle. The part of the golf ball is triangulated, and the Soddy circle can be generated based upon the vertices of each triangle. Then, the dimples can be arranged on the basis of the generated Soddy circles. Alternatively, The dimples in a part of the golf ball may be distributed based upon circle packing. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf club head provided with a shell constituting an internal cavity and equipped with a face and a main body. SOLUTION: A face is provided with a first section which is a reinforcing section of a first thickness and a second section which is the other section of a second thickness smaller than the first thickness. The reinforcing section is placed at the center part of the face. In the outer surface of the face composes at least one groove which is separated from the center part of the face. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hitting face of a golf club head having improved flexural stiffness properties. SOLUTION: In one embodiment, the hitting face is made from multiple materials. The main portion of the hitting face is a plate-like face made from a first material having a first density. A dense insert made from a second material having a second density that is greater than the first density is attached directly or indirectly to the plate-like face at or near the geometric center thereof. The dense insert increases the flexural stiffness of in a central zone of the hitting face so that a golf club head that has a larger zone of substantially uniform high initial ball speed. In another embodiment, the hitting face includes an insert that includes main plate and at least one wing extending therefrom. The insert is welded to the golf club head so that the main plate does not deflect separately from the remainder of the hitting face. The geometry of the face insert controls the flexural stiffness in the axial directions. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf club head by which a user can easily hit a ball and hardly mishits a shot. SOLUTION: In this golf club head having a recess (20) located in a top portion, the recess (20) is located between the heel (15) and the toe (16) and extends toward the sole (13). An insert (30) may be placed within the recess (20). The insert (30) has a density that is less than the density of the club head body (10), and the insert (30) preferably is a light-weight insert. The insert (30) may include one or more dampening materials. The recess (30) removes material from the club head, which in turn may do one or more of the following: increase the overall size of the club head, expand the size of the club head sweet spot, lower the club head center of gravity, and/or produce a greater club head moment of inertia. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf club with a striking face having the substantially uniform coefficient of restitution and a large sweet spot. SOLUTION: A metal wood golf club head adapted for attachment to a shaft, comprising of a body portion 14 and a crown portion, each portion constructed of a different density material. Combining a high-density material in the body portion, with a low-density material in the crown portion, creates an ultra-low center of gravity relative to the geometric face center, resulting in higher launch angles and spin rate ratios. The material for the crown portion is preferably a composite. The crown portion comprises an inner surface layer of a vibration dampening and acoustical attenuating material. The transverse surfaces of the crown portion and the body portion 14 creating a gap that is filled with a shock absorption material such as putty or a rubber based structural adhesive. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf ball enabling a player slow in swing speed to increase carry. SOLUTION: The golf ball 10 comprises a center 12 formed of material containing polybutadiene and having high resilience; at least one cover layer 14 composed of material containing polyurethane; and at least one thread-wound layer 30 formed of tightened thread material and provided between the center 12 and the cover 14. A polyurethane compound is formed of reaction product of a diamine curing agent and at least one prepolymer composed of polyisocyanate and polyol. A polybutadiene compound contains butadiene polymer having a resilience index of approximately greater than 40 and weight average molecular weight of greater than about 200,000.
