    Abstract: A sample is aspirated into a Flow Injection Analysis (FIA) flow system, including a diffusion cell (20) and a measurement cell (30) arranged for determination of the component content (such as acetone). Before every new sample the two sides of the diffusion cell (20) are rinsed by the carrier fluids. In order to increase the sample cadence to about 250-500 samples per hour a pressure is established in communication with the carrier fluid conduits (36, 38), -the diffusion period includes the main part of the reaction period, the flow being stopped or slowed down for a predetermined period (e.g. 9.4 seconds) while the sample is staying in the diffusion cell (20), wherefore the reaction between the acceptor fluid and the component to be determined substantially occurs in the diffusion cell, -and the flow is controlled/regulated by timer-controlled hose clamp valves.

    Abstract: A sampling and filtering device having a circular chamber 14 and a wing 20 for rotating the fluid in the chamber, an inlet in the centre of the chamber, and a first outlet to waste at the periphery of the chamber, a woven filter 24, securely fastened between the rims of a filter housing and a removable wall and supported by a grooved collector plate forming the removable wall 40 in the filter housing 14. The inlet and outlet are controlled by valves (16, 18), so that the filter chamber 14, the wing 20, the open inlet, and open outlet may function as a centrifugal pump. The filter 24 is cleaned by the rotating wing 20. The device enables a fast extraction of a series of samples from grape juices provided from different batches or truck-loads of grapes during the grape harvest.

The searing includes supplying heat to the sample for one or more known exposure times to produce a same number of searing instances, measuring reflectance values of the sample before and after one or more of the searing instances, determining a searing parameter as an indicator of a susceptibility of the organic matrix to searing determined based on the measured reflectance values, calculating a time value from an application of a predictive model derived from an empirical analysis of reference data comprising time values indexed against searing parameter to the searing parameter, the predictive model linking the searing parameter to the time value, generating a new exposure time using the time value, and heating the sample for the new exposure time to produce a new searing instance.
