본 발명은 이동통신 시스템에서 단말기가 등록 금지 영역의 일부인 현재 셀에 위치하고 있을 때, 현재 셀이 속한 주파수에 대한 메저먼트를 제어하는 방법 및 장치에 대한 것이다. 새로운 등록 영역에 속해 있는 현재 셀로 진입한 단말기는 상기 새로운 등록 영역에 등록하기 위하여 등록 영역 업데이트를 수행한다. 만약 네트워크로부터의 응답 메시지로 상기 새로운 등록 영역이 등록 금지 영역임을 인지하면, 단말기는 일정 시간 동안 상기 현재 셀이 속해있는 주파수에 대한 메저먼트를 수행하지 않도록 제한하고, 다른 주파수들에 대해서 메저먼트를 수행하여 일반 서비스를 위해 적절한 셀을 찾는다. 다른 주파수들에서 적절한 셀이 발견되지 않으면, 단말기는 상기 제한을 제거하고 현재 셀의 주파수를 포함하는 주파수들에 대해 메저먼트를 수행하여 제한된 서비스가 가능한 수용가능 셀을 찾는다. Abstract:
A method for maintaining UL timing synchronization in a mobile communication system and a terminal device thereof are provided to store UL timing and DL timing separately as reference UL timing and reference DL timing when initial UL timing synchronization is acquired, calculate periodically DL timing, compare the DL timing with the reference DL timing to calculate a difference, and maintain the UL timing by applying the difference to the reference UL timing, thereby reducing the overhead of signaling of UL and DL and using efficiently radio resource by reducing signaling frequency between an UE(User Equipment) and an E-NB(Evolved-Node B). A method for maintaining UL(Uplink) timing synchronization comprises the following steps of: controlling UL timing according to UL timing control information included in a response message from a BS(Base Station) and storing the controlled UL timing as reference UL timing for UL signaling or data transmission(431); measuring periodically DL(Downlink) timing after storing the reference UL timing and calculating a difference between the measured DL timing and pre-stored reference DL timing(441,451); and determining the UL timing by using the calculated difference with the DL timing and the reference UL timing(481).

A method and an apparatus for the DRX(Discontinuous Reception) operation of a connected UE(User Equipment) in a mobile communication system are provided to adjust the length of an active period according to traffic requirements in a packet service where a traffic event can be differently generated every DRX cycle. A UE receives the length of a DRX cycle, information which can induce the starting point of an active period, and the minimum active period length(405). The UE induces the starting point of the active period according to preset rules, based on the received information to induce the starting point of the active period, and confirms whether now is the starting point of the active period(410). If not, the UE maintains sleep mode until the starting point of the active period comes(435). If the starting point of the active period comes, the UE drives a DRX_CYCLE_LENGTH timer and a MINIMUM_ACTIVE timer(415). The UE checks whether packets to receive exist(420). If no packet is received until the MINIMUM_ACTIVE timer expires, the UE enters into sleep mode and maintains sleep mode until the next active period starts(435). However, if packets to receive exist before the minimum active period length expires, the UE receives the packets according to an ordinary HARQ operation(S425).

A method and an apparatus for effectively allocating transmission resources in a mobile communication system are provided to reduce a signaling overhead for allocating transmission resources, and minimize collision or a waste of transmission resources. A grant channel receiving unit(1220) receives transmission resource allocation information indicating a change situation of transmission resources allocated to a terminal from a network node. A resource pool management unit(1225) manages transmission resource information indicating the allocated transmission resources according to the transmission resource allocation information. A CRC(Cyclic Redundancy Check) calculating unit(1235) determines packet decoding control information with respect to packet data desired to be transmitted, and calculates a CRC with respect to the transmission resource information and the packet decoding control information. A CRC adder(1250) adds the CRC to the packet decoding control information and transmits it to the network node.

A method and an apparatus for managing neighbor cells of an active mode terminal in a mobile communication system are provided to define an event supporting the handover of an active mode terminal in accordance with a 3GPP(3RD Generation Partnership Project) LTE(Long Term Evolution) system and to minimize power consumption of the active mode terminal in executing management for neighbor cells in the 3GPP LTE system. A UE(User Equipment) transmits a measurement report message to inform an E-RAN(Evolved Radio Access Network) that a handover event has been generated(221). In this case, the measurement report message contains a cell identifier of a neighbor cell "A", which has generated the handover event, and a management result value related to the cell "A". Then, the UE activates a measurement stopping timer to stop management for the cell "A". If a handover command is not received from the E-RAN until the timer expires, the UE doesn't execute management for the cell "A" anymore by recognizing that handover cannot be executed due to a network situation. In case it is impossible to perform handover to the cell "A", the E-RAN, receiving the measurement report message, doesn't carry out handover procedures for the UE(231), and updates a context associated with the radio state of the UE in order to put the cell "A" in a list of cells having better radio strength than the present serving cell "X"(233). Also, the E-RAN doesn't transmit a handover command message to the UE(241). The UE also puts the cell "A" in a list of cells having better radio strength than the serving cell "X"(251), and then stops management for the cell "A"(253).

A call setup method for minimizing call setup delays in a mobile communication system and an apparatus thereof are provided to minimize call setup delays by reporting the existence of a service sensitive to a call setup delay to a network and keeping a UE(User Equipment), which uses the service, connected. If call setup is requested for a service, a UE judges whether the requested service is sensitive to a call setup delay. In case the requested service is sensitive to a call setup delay, the UE establishes control information for indicating that the requested service is sensitive to a call setup delay. Then, the UE inserts the control information into a call setup request message and transmits it to a network. In this case, the control information comprises service information for showing that the requested service is sensitive to a call setup delay, indication information for requesting the network to keep the UE in a connected state, and RRM(Radio Resource Management) request information for requesting the network to execute specific RRM for the UE.

A method for transmitting multicast service-associated information in a mobile communication network is provided to store information associated with multicast services, in which one or more UEs(User Equipments) participate, in an RNC(Radio Network Controller) while the UEs are participating in one or more multicast services. If a UE transmits a URA(UTRAN Registration Area) UPDATE message to the first DRNC(Drift RNC)(201), the first DRNC transmits a UL(Uplink) signalling transfer message containing an RRC URA UPDATE message and URA information to an SRNC(203). The SRNC transmits a DL(Downlink) signalling transfer message to the first DRNC(205). The first DRNC transmits a URA UPDATE confirmation message to the UE(207). At this moment, the SRNC transmits a URA-ATTACH message to notify the first DRNC that service validity information for the present MBMS(Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service) services should be exactly signalled at URA-5(209). As the signalling of service validity information for the present MBMS services is not necessary at URA-37 any more, the SRNC transmits a URA-DETACH message containing this information to the first DRNC(211).

An apparatus and a method for extending radio messages in a mobile communication are provided to substantially reduce an overhead caused by providing an extended container by allowing each wireless message to include one extension container. In a communicating method through a cellular communication network includes the steps of: communicating between a mobile terminal and a network element by using wireless messages according to a wireless protocol. A format of the wireless messages includes an extension container part(130), adopted to include a base message part(101) related to a first version of the wireless protocol, each of extension data blocks(102,103,104,105,132,133,134) related to a following version of the wireless version, and the extension blocks(132,133,134) related to at least more than one following version of the wireless protocol.
