    Abstract: A convertible sunvisor cap has an adjustable support band which carries a rearward portion of the crown. The support band is pivotally and slidably connected to the head band such that the support band can be adjusted in length to correspond to adjustments made in the head band such that in the cap position of the crown, the support band fits snugly over a rearward portion of the head band.

    Abstract: A collapsible protective covering assembly for protecting the head of a bearer includes a collapsible frame, a flexible shield mounted on the frame and a garment collar for attachment of the frame and shield to the garment. The frame includes a front base member, which with the collar as a matching base member, forms a base for the assembly, and also includes a plurality of ribs. Snaps are employed to detachably attach the frame and protective shield to the collar. The front base member has an open configuration with respect to a rib for spreading a front portion of the shield (a face shield) in a protective configuration and a collapsed configuration with respect to the rib for bunching the front portion in a non-protective configuration. Each rib similarly has an open configuration with respect to another rib for spreading a portion of the shield in a protective configuration, and a collapsed configuration for bunching the portion in a collapsed configuration. The frame, including the front base member and the ribs, may be completely collapsed to bunch a number of portions of the shield.

    Abstract: A snap brim hat is disclosed which has a crown, a brim assembly and tie straps. The brim assembly is manipulable between a pair of stable configurations. The brim assembly defines a sinuously configured brim periphery and includes an annular brim member formed from a flexible fabric and a hoop-like brim spring member secured to the brim member periphery. The brim and spring members react against each other so that each is stressed by the other and the stresses are balanced when the brim assembly is in either of its stable configurations. When not in use, the hat can be collapsed into three generally concentric adjacent circular spring coils, or loops, and inserted into a suitable carrying container.
