Abstract:
A separation-membrane module 1 includes an element block 2 that is formed by arranging, in parallel, a plurality of separation-membrane elements 4 that are formed by arranging a pair of separation-membranes with their respective permeate surfaces in opposition to each other and sealing the edges of the pair of the membranes; and an aeration block 3 that includes an aeration pipe 31 and that is disposed under the element block 2. In the element block 2, at least one upper spacer 8 is disposed in the upper portion of each space between the adjacent separation-membrane elements 4, and a lower spacer 9 is disposed under the upper spacer 8 in each space between the adjacent separation-membrane elements 4. And the leftmost and the rightmost separation-membrane elements 4 of the plurality of the separation-membrane elements 4 are secured to a frame 12 at the lower spacers 9.
Abstract:
A diffuser assembly includes a flexible diffuser membrane and a diffuser body. The flexible diffuser membrane defines a circumferential bead. The diffuser body defines a circular plate underlying the flexible diffuser membrane, and an edge ring covering a covered portion of the circumferential bead. The edge ring defines an inside surface that conforms to an outside shape of the covered portion of the circumferential bead. The edge ring is integral to the diffuser body. Such a diffuser assembly may provide a disposable diffuser assembly option with many advantages over conventional technologies such as improved ease of installation, lower weight, and lower cost.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an aeration lateral system designated to be site specific for new septic disposal areas or retro fitting to existing septic disposal areas to break up the biological clogging slug mat at the interface of the wastewater and imported sand or native soil fill under or adjacent to disposal areas of a typical septic system. The lateral system provides uniform or other site specific distribution of fluids about the bio-mat of a wastewater disposal area, with lateral spacing and hole spacing varying based on the type of disposal area being utilized. The lateral system can also be utilized to provide continuous low volume air supply system to a wastewater disposal area or peat filter module. The air lateral installation includes methods to minimize airflow disturbance of the soil and methods to prevent air leakage.

Abstract:
A device for treating wastewater liquids, the device comprising a housing (4) incorporating a membrane supported biofilm reactor (MSBR) (2) of the type comprising a lumen containing a gas phase, a liquid phase, and a gas permeable membrane (20) providing an interface between the gas and liquid phases; and a means (6) for mixing the wastewater liquids in the device, wherein the means (6) for mixing the wastewater liquids is configured to create a mixing intensity sufficient to ensure that there is contact between the membrane (20) and the wastewater liquid to be treated.
Abstract:
Wastewater is treated though primary treatment of the water by way of a micro-sieve to produce a primary effluent and primary sludge. There is secondary treatment of the primary effluent by way of a membrane bioreactor (MBR) or an integrated fixed film activated sludge (IFAS) reactor to produce a secondary effluent and a waste activated sludge. The micro-sieve may have openings of 250 microns or less, for example about 150 microns. In a process, a gas transfer membrane is immersed in water. Pressurized air flows into the gas transfer membrane. An exhaust gas is withdrawn from the gas transfer membrane and used to produce bubbles from an aerator immersed in the water.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a mounting device (8) for an aeration element (2) for introducing a gas into a liquid, said aeration element (2) comprises a base body (3) having at least one upwardly-projecting sidewall (6), said mounting device comprises a mounting element (9) for connecting to the sidewall (6) of the base body (3) of the aeration element (2). Said mounting element (9) comprises at least one elastically deflectable retaining web (10) for detachably connecting to the at least one sidewall (6) of the base body (3) of the aeration element (2). The invention also relates to an aerator with said type of mounting device (8).
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for the treatment of water with a gas or nutrient infused liquid. One embodiment delivers an oxidized water supply to a wastewater digester medium by means of pure oxygen introduced to the water supply via a pressure vessel or other means to infuse the liquid. This oxygen infused liquid is delivered to the medium to be treated at a critically controlled depth via a surface float delivery system. The invention involves delivering the oxygen infused liquid via nozzles which are located strategically in the supernatant allowing an extended oxygen-water interface time without over oxidizing the sludge blanket below.
Abstract:
An aeration and microbial reactor system for use in decontaminating water including a housing adapted to float and/or submerged within the medium such that a top portion thereof remains adjacent a top surface of the contaminated water while the bioreactor containing inoculated carrier media is attached below. Beneficial microbial populations thrive and spread throughout the liquid medium, and consume or fix the contaminant such that the contaminant is removed from the water.
