PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal processing process giving excellent lubrication, wherein no seizure is caused, cleaning is easy, high speed processing is possible and the removal of residues is not required. SOLUTION: The metal processing process comprises conducting the lubrication of a metal during the processing using a fluorinated inert liquid selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic perfluorocarbon of a general formula of C n F 2n+2 , perfluoromorpholine of a general formula of C n F 2n+1 ON, a perfluorocycloalkane, perfluoroamine, a highly fluorinated amine, a perflluoroether and a highly fluorinated ether. Disclosed herein are a lubricating composition comprising 5 to 65% by weight of a solid lubricant powder material, 5 to 20% by weight of a lubricating oil which is in a liquid or paste form at an ordinary temperature, 1 to 8% by weight of a carrier for absorbing and possessing said lubricating oil, 10 to 30% by weight of a thermoplastic resin, and 25 to 50% by weight of a thermosetting synthetic resin, and a sliding member comprising a metal substrate and a solid lubricant composed of the lubricating composition.

Halogenated graphene nanoplatelets that are characterized by having, except for the carbon atoms forming the perimeters of the graphene layers of the nanoplatelets, (i) graphene layers that are free from any element or component other than sp2 carbon, and (ii) substantially defect- free graphene layers; the total content of halogen in the nanoplatelets is about 5 wt% or less calculated as bromine and based on the total weight of the nanoplatelets. Processes for producing such nanoplatelets and various end uses for such nanoplatelets are also described. Halogenated exfoliated graphite having a total content of halogen of about 5 wt% or less calculated as bromine and based on the total weight of the halogenated exfoliated graphite and processes for producing the halogenated exfoliated graphite are also provided.

A threaded joint for steel pipes comprised of a pin 1 and a box 2 each having a threaded portion (1a, 2a) and an unthreaded metal contact portion (1b, 2b) exhibits adequate leakage resistance and galling resistance when used for makeup of oil country tubular goods with application of a green dope or even without any dope. The threaded joint has a first plating layer of Sn-Bi alloy plating or Sn-Bi-Cu alloy plating formed on the contact surface of at least one of the pin 1 and the box 2. The first plating layer may have a second plating layer selected from Sn plating, Cu plating, and Ni plating on its lower side and at least one layer of a lubricating coating, and particularly a solid lubricating coating, on its upper side.

The production of solid lubricant agglomerates by combining solid lubricant powder, an inorganic binder, other fillers if optionally desired, and a liquid to form a mixture, and driving off the liquid to form dry agglomerates which are subsequently classified by size or milled and classified by size to yield agglomerates of a desired size range. These agglomerates are then treated to stabilize the binder, thereby strengthening the binder and rendering it nondispersible in the liquid. The undesired size ranges can be readily recycled because the agglomerates with untreated binder can be reprocessed, thereby promoting high recovery rates.

The invention concerns a composition for preparing metal products designed to be shaped by at least one mechanical process of plastic deformation such as wire drawing, rolling, calendering, forging, swaging and the like, without notable shrinkage of substance. The invention is characterised in that it comprises a film-forming binder, at least an additive reactive with the metal, at least a lubricating additive and at least an anticorrosive additive. The invention also concerns a method for preparing said metal products using the claimed composition.
