A cord with an elongated cross-section and adapted for the reinforcement of plies in a pneumatic tire, comprises a layer of steel filaments that are wound around an untwisted monofilament core, the monofilament core having a tensile strength of at least 1800 N/mm², an elongation at rupture of at least 2 per cent and a breadth-to-thickness ratio of at least 2. This structure combines the properties of flat wires with those of steel cords having substantially round cross-sections.

The invention relates to a strong load-handling band, such as a multi-lift band (12), double-lift band (25) and a load-strapping band (26), its supporting part being a core made up of numerous reinforcing plastic films (11) of the same width as the band. The films (11) are laminated one on top of the other, in which case they remain parallel during the handling of the load. The bands can also be encircled with a plastic protective mantle (16) of one or several layers.

Verstärkungscord aus einem oder mehreren Metalldrähten zur Verstärkung von elastomeren Erzeugnissen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Metalldraht bzw. die Metalldrähte einen mindestens annähernd rechteckigen Querschnitt, dessen Ecken gerundet sind, aufweisen, daß sich benachbarte Metalldrähte mit der Flachseite berühren und der Verstärkungscord in sich über seine Längsachse verdreht ist. Zwei oder mehr Verstärkungscorde können zu einem Verstärkungsseil zusammengesetzt sein. Es können auch Verstärkungsseile derart gebildet werden, daß ein oder mehrere Verstärkungscorde, deren Metalldrähte (44) rechteckigen Querschnitt, dessen Ecken gerundet sind, aufweisen und verdreht sind, als Kernlitze(n) vorliegen, um welche mehrere Einzeldrähte (45) geschlagen sind. Die Verstärkungscorde und/oder Verstärkungsseile werden zur Herstellung von Luftreifen für PKW's, Lastkraftwagen, Erdbewegungsmaschinen oder Traktoren, vorzugsweise im Gürtel dieser Luftreifen verwendet.

Provided are a rubber article reinforcing steel wire that is superior in bending fatigue properties to the related art and has a flat cross-sectional shape, and a rubber article using the wire. In a rubber article reinforcing steel wire 10, a major diameter and a minor diameter are substantially perpendicular to each other. Assuming that the major diameter is W, the minor diameter is T, a straight line that passes through a center of the major diameter in a width direction and is parallel to a minor diameter direction is L1, a straight line that passes through a center of the minor diameter in a width direction and is parallel to a major diameter direction is L2, an intersection point of the L1 and the L2 is a center point C, a region within a half of a distance from the center point C to a surface is a central region Rc, and a region outside the central region Rc is a surface layer region Rs, a Vickers hardness Hvc of the central region Rc is more than a Vickers hardness Hvs of the surface layer region Rs; and assuming that a Vickers hardness on the L1 in the surface layer region Rs is Hv1, and a Vickers hardness on the L2 in the surface layer region Rs is Hv2, relationships represented by Hvc - Hv1 ‰¤ 150, Hvc - Hv2 ‰¤ 150, Hv1/Hvc × 100 ‰¥ 85.11, and Hv2/Hvc × 100 ‰¥ 79.84 are satisfied.

The mooring member comprises a plurality of functional elements (4), wherein a first functional element (4) is wound onto at least a portion of the rope (1), a second functional element (42) is wound onto the first functional element (4), and so on, until the outermost functional element (4) is wound onto the second-to-outermost functional element (44). The invention concerns, in particular, a device (1) for preparing a reinforcing strip intended for producing a tyre, said device making it possible to prepare an undulated reinforcing strip (21) from a flat reinforcement strip (20), said device comprising: a continuous conveyor (4) suitable for guiding a plurality of fingers (5) along a closed circuit comprising at least one straight path portion, said fingers being suitable for bearing against a first face of the strip, a rotary plate (6) that rotates about a plate axis (AP), said rotary plate carrying a plurality of rotary rollers (7) of axes parallel to the plate axis, said rollers being distributed in a circle (61) substantially concentric to the plate axis, said rollers being suitable for bearing against a second face of the strip, guide means (9, 10) for guiding the flat reinforcement strip entering the device, synchronisation means for synchronising the rotation of the rotary plate and the advancement of the continuous conveyor, in which the closed circuit comprises an interference portion (PI) in which the synchronisation means allow the fingers and the rollers to move in rotational movements in a common plane perpendicular to the plate axis, the fingers and the rollers being interposed in said interference portion in such a way as to produce undulations in the strip extending in said common plane.
