Abstract:
A pneumatic tyre (1) comprises a tread portion (2), a pair of sidewall portions (3), a pair of bead portions (4), and a carcass ply (6) of steel cords (10) extending between the bead portions (4) through the tread portion (2) and sidewall portions (3). Each of the carcass cords (10) comprises a number "n" of steel filaments (F) each having a diameter (d) of from 0.17 to 0.40 mm. The steel filaments (F) are twisted together to have a "1Xn" bundle-twist structure or an interlace-twist structure. In a vicinity of the maximum tyre section width point P of each of the sidewall portions, a sectional shape coefficient S of each carcass cord is set in a range of from 0.5 to 0.9, wherein the sectional shape coefficient S is (d 2 X n)/(L1 X L2), "n" is the number of the filaments, "d" is the average of the diameters of the filaments, "L1" is the largest measure of distance between two extremities of the cord which occurs in a direction in a cross section of the cord, and "L2" is the measure of distance between two extremities of the cord in a direction perpendicular to the above-mentioned direction.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are a tire-reinforcing steel cord and a pneumatic radial tire using the same. The tire-reinforcing steel cord includes an inner layer consisting of 3 filaments and an outer layer consisting of 7 or 8 filaments and surrounding the inner layer. The inner layer and the outer layer are twisted in such a manner that they have the same twist direction and the same twist pitch length, whereby the number of the twisting steps in the manufacture of the steel cord is reduced, and also the penetration of rubber into the steel cord is improved such that the steel cord has an improved durability upon application to tires.
Abstract:
A steel cord which is suitable for reinforcing a rubber product and has excellent fatigue resistance. The steel cord has a layer-twisted structure formed by steel filaments respectively having a diameter of 0.15 mm to 0.25 mm. A core of the steel cord is formed by 1 to 4 steel filaments. A least 6 steel filaments are wound around the steel filaments of the core to form at least one layer. When the steel cord is bent from a straight state to a state in which a radius of curvature thereof is d/(17 x 10⁻³) wherein d is a diameter in millimeters of each steel filament in an outermost layer of the steel cord, a maximum amount of movement of each steel filament in the outermost layer in a cross-section of the steel cord is less than or equal to (-0.5454d + 0.1454) x 10³ um. The steel cord preferably has a two-layer-twisted structure or a three-layer-twisted structure, and has an arrangement in which the diameters of the steel filaments gradually decrease from the core to the outermost layer.
Abstract:
A steel cord for the reinforcement of rubber articles comprises a central basic layer (1) comprised of 1 to 4 steel filaments, at least one coaxial layer (2,3) arranged around the central basic layer and comprised of steel filaments which are twisted in the same twisting direction at the same twisting pitch, and a wrap filament (4) spirally wound around the coaxial layer in the same twisting direction. Such a steel cord may be suitably used as a carcass cord ply of a pneumatic radial tire.
Abstract:
A single strand cord of single filaments (16-24) having similar diameter lay length and direction with at least one core filament (18) positioned with the filaments (16-24) in the next layer (10) and filaments (20) laid on the cord in one layer (10) positioned with another layer (14).
